It’s not about how good he is or how good he becomes as There’s very few kids that come through at that age who are destined to be top players. He looks like a player that can handle senior football. George Hirst for example is a few years older, has played well in youth teams and England etc but you see him on the pitch now and he looks like a teenager playing against men where as Shaw doesn’t. If we don’t have the foresight to plan and keep these kind of players then we are forever going to be spaffing away millions a year in high wages to 30odd year olds who we will never get a penny back from. True but If Monk knew what he was doing Shaw would have been in the side earlier and would possibly have been offered a better contract earlier. Shaw is miles in front of Hunt or Dele.
