Obviously bit breezy down south,GOAL

59 years ive been going to football and i never knew you could score direct from a goal kick..........reading the report it seemed like the cheltenham players  didnt know either ......

Edit - Looks like the law changed in 1997, missed that

Was it? I was only a young en at the time, just remember him doing it.

Yeah I looked it up and evidently you can score but if you somehow kick into your own goal that's only a corner ....dont seem fair does it

I too thought this was the same as an indirect free kick or a penalty hitting the post then the same player touching it next, effectively an indirect free kick?

Well I never knew that was possible. Always thought it was like an indirect free kick type situation where it had to be touched by another player. Doesn't the ref hold his arm up until its touched or something? The ball, not his arm, that would just be weird.
