We have a customer with a MASSIVE property, despite both the Openreach & BT website claiming FTTC is available whenever he tries to order it , it gets rejected/fails with the reason given as FTTC not available.  (He currently gets 10-12Mbit Download, 1Mbit Upload on ADSL)

What thoughts do people have to using a 4G/5G  Modem/Router for the main home broadband connection.?

Money would be an issue for a reliable service.

Yep, we install these and been doing loads recently

They work really well, we've done quite a few farms and even Croxdale Hall in Durham. I'd be happy to talk to your guy

You want to avoid the little WiFi routers the network sell. These need to be properly installed externally with a cable run to the inside

This is one of ours in London

(We always do a site survey before install as sppeds can vary)

Fastest one weve installed runs at about 150mB download, and about 40mB upload - thats at an industrial park in Barnsley. Pings often around 10-20

How easy would it be to swap from using a Plusnet Hub one router to a BT Home Hub 4 router?

As I understand it they are pretty much the same router just different builds?

I’ll have a chat with him, see if it’s something he would consider.

Update:

So @Grandad and his team installed this for our customer on Friday.

Our customer has been texting all weekend saying how delighted he is with the results and he wishes he’d done it sooner.

The service provided by Grandad and his team was excellent.

If you are anybody you know is struggling with poor internet access there really is no need.

Looks good that.

If network providers could get their prices down by around a tenner I reckon loads would switch, especially when 5g comes along.

Our fibre speeds in chap is rubbish

Same, our fibre is dreadful here, especially since increase in demand due to lockdowns etc.

£42 plus VAT for Unlimited Data is just £51. When you can drop not just your internet provider but the landline that drives it - thats not such a bad deal

Having said that - we recommend these primarily for people who can't get fibre - or who work so far away from the local exchange that even fibre is poor.
