Paul Cook spills all: NOT currently in talks with Sheffield Wednesday

Recommended Posts

Some very interesting Paul Cook quotes below from an interview with TalkSport this evening..

"I have had contact with Sheffield Wednesday, we have spoken. As we speak now those talks aren’t really ongoing.

"So that’s where the situation stands. I wish Sheffield Wednesday going forward, whether it’s Paul Cook or any manager, the best of luck because it’s a fantastic club with fantastic support.."

..there's plenty more.

Continental coaches are used to this so that’s probably what we will get now.

Fairly sure Southampton and others have adopted the model whereby the club adopts an approach and recruitment strategy and the manager/coach feeds into that and manages the squad but isn’t in old school control.

Doesnt float with traditional English managers but it’s not that unusual in modern football

Loads of clubs do it, the difference is simple between them and us, they have structure.
Norwich are the club to be following.
We don't have a strategy.

Stuart Webber at Norwich overseas everything and imprints philosophies for the club to follow and it's clear for all to see.
He's overseen promotion at both Norwich and Huddersfield.

Who's doing that role for us? Chansiri and his advisors.

Then we have a recruitment team battling against the advisors on who to sign It's all counter productive.

Aren’t Brentford run on a similar basis.  Quite a few on here have suggested we follow the Brentford approach.

As soon as we recruit better we will be fine. No one will be wanting a Cook or Pulis or Bruce then. Be happy with a pass it round at the back, continental coach.

It's difficult to compare a professional football club to the way Chansiri runs our club as a part time hobby

That’s disappointing but it certainly backs up on what chansiri is looking for a head coach not a manager

also going on chansiris comments on pulis abs working the media abs fans I’m guessing even if he had a chance ( sounds like they never shared the vision and job role and responsibilities anyway ) then cook has just nailed his own nail in his coffin for going public

If he really spoke about himself in the third person like that, I don't want him anyway.

They do have a clearer structure. We just don’t know who does what it’s all cloak and dagger. But for all intents and purposes it seems to be a similar system. Someone like Amadeu Paxaou has been like the sporting director but Chansiri probably takes on that role too.

Quite a few clubs are. But the fans there are clear on who does what and there is a hierarchy but ours seems a bit more hidden and messy.

They might do in their heads but that's no good to the outsiders and us fans.

We can't see a clear direction or picture.

All we see is a absolute shitshow it's not transparent.

Go and watch videos about Norwich and their director of football Stuart Webber, they have a clear open transparent plan for all to see and hear.

Amadeu someone who doesn't need to have the clubs interest at heart and someone who has been linked to dodgy agent firms like Doyen, sounds a great person to take advice from.

The latest agent is also a boxing promoter ffs.

After reading it, it looks like he doesn't think he is getting it, that's why he's came out and said that.
