sonofbert2
Sheffield Wednesday can confirm that a significant number of club personnel have returned positive results for COVID-19 following tests conducted this week. Amongst those affected are caretaker manager Neil Thompson and his temporary assistants Lee Bullen and Steven Haslam. Consequently, the trio will be absent from the dugout when the Owls travel to Exeter in the third round of the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday. Academy coach Andy Holdsworth, assisted by Daral Pugh, Nicky Weaver and Tony Strudwick, will take charge of the team at St James Park. All personnel who have tested positive are now in a period of isolation in line with Government protocol. The club’s Middlewood Road training complex was closed down earlier this week and will remain so until further notice. SWFC would like to wish all our staff who have returned a positive test a safe and speedy recovery. 1

matthefish2002
Seems it might be a scratch side this weekend. I didn't think this before but might be time to suspend the season. Doesnt seem right playing football behind closed doors when a significant number of matches are being called off. Players and staff testing positive is no longer a few isolated cases. Heart not in watching football when we are I'm the middle of a national crisis. Edited January 7, 2021 by matthefish2002 2

I agree how is it right that we can’t travel a few miles, but it’s ok for football clubs to send a coach load of people hundreds of miles x 32 teams and stay overnight. Money talks football don’t give a poo!

Derby are having to field their U23 and U18's. "Those that have tested positive for COVID-19, and those that have been in close contact with those individuals, must self-isolate for a period of time. As the first-team coaching staff, backroom team and players are currently self-isolating, staff and players at Saturday’s match will be predominantly made up from the club’s Under-23 and Under-18 set-ups."
