0114
Championship big guns Derby County, Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough are battling Rotherham to sign striker Armand Gnanduillet this month, Football Insider understands. The 28-year-old former Blackpool striker is a free agent after leaving Turkish Second Division side Altay SK. A recruitment source has told Football Insider that the French striker is a wanted man as leading EFL clubs look to bolster their attack for the second half of the campaign. Despite interest in his native France, Gnanduillet is keen on a return to England, where he has spent most of his professional career. Gnanduillet scored 18 goals across 36 matches in all competitions for Blackpool last season and has extensive lower league experience. He is available after his spell at Turkish second-tier side Altay SK failed to live up to expectations. The 6ft 3in front man scored just two goals in 15 matches, most of which were as a substitute, in the first half of the campaign. There is now a race for the signature of Gnanduillet from clubs across the Championship. Seventh-placed Middlesbrough have reignited their interest after pushing for the striker last summer following their poor 2019-20 campaign. At Blackpool, Gnanduillet was a prolific scorer with his 145 matches for the club yielding 43 goals and 11 assists. He has also had spells at Chesterfield – where he scored just 12 times in 98 games – as well as shorter ones at Leyton Orient, Stevenage, Oxford United and Tranmere Rovers. www.footballinsider247.com/derby-county-wednesday-want-gnanduillet/amp/

The Night-Owl
Wanted us to sign him a year or two ago. He'll probably end up at Middlesbrough but if not and we sign him, he'd be a decent target man option, that we've clearly lacked since Fletcher and Nuhiu. prowl
Championship big guns Derby County, Sheffield Wednesday. That's a bit of a stretch at the moment. the French striker is a wanted man as leading EFL clubs look to bolster their attack for the second half of the campaign. I don' t think our most cardent fan could say we are currently a leading club , or Derby for that matter. I've no idea if this guy is any good but he's got to be better than what we have even if it's just to give the opposition something to think about. Birstall Owl
I went to watch Blackpool Vs Macclesfield last season in the EFL Cup as our game against Bury was cancelled and he played in that game. From what I can remember he was a handful but seemed a bit cow's arse with a banjo Like an Aldi Lucas Joao
striker
Not much quality about in this window. Surprised championship clubs are looking at him, but shows how desperate a few are. Not a bad short term signing, but not the answer to our problems, still probably more effective than Rhodes for the remainder of the season. daveyboy66
He's not prolific but...he's big, fairly quick and good in the air so could be a good focus point for the attack providing we get some pace around him. And let's face it he's cheap
Bluesteel
He’s basically like Sodje. But his goals tally has improved in recent years, wasn’t scoring much in his early 20s but now he’s in his prime he’s been getting double figures in league one. But it’s that speed and power that would really add something.
Guest hirstysfags
My Chessie supporting colleague says he is simply a big pacy blunt instrument. He also says that Cook would be a great manager for us.

We are a basket case right now until we get the right manager in place and plan to go forward , at the minute I don't see this.

edinburghowl
Good debut for Hearts tonight. Scored two coming off the bench and despite not being fully fit he looked decent. Very pleased that one of my teams managed to sign him.

vulture_squadron
Bit of a cliche but are goals the be all and all for this kind of striker? Chris O'Grady didn't score many but played a big role. Kevin Davis at Bolton years ago was similar. He held the ball up and allowed the midfield to play more in the opposition half. Obviously we'd like a Drogba who can do all that and score 20 goals a season but in our predicament that obviously isn't happening. Someone like this could get Marriott or dare I say it Rhodes into the game more too.
