Didn’t we have a Neil Owen on the books, around the same time as Gordon Can recall two Owen’s playing for our Northern Intermediate side, along with Beaumont

We also signed a midfielder from City, called Owen

Seem to remember him too.

We did sign gary owen, but later - from WBA (?).

shows you the strength of the central league with the players involved a bit different to what we have these days ......young players would come in and learn there trade playing with and against senior pros .......never understand why they binned it .

Have to agree with that Strangely though, unlike a lot of clubs, we don’t usually field experienced U23 sides. There is the possibility for clubs to play three overage players, four if you include the keeper, so games could still be a bit more competitive within the current framework.

While, as I said, I too lament the passing of the Central League, that strong team did actually contain 6 players 23 or under, including 4 teenagers
