Nixon’s piece in the Sun this morning.....

The Sun on Sunday claims that Sheffield Wednesday’s managerial search has hit a ‘snag’ because of a ‘split between their two main advisers’.

Owner Dejphon Chansiri has two main advisers by his side – Erik Alonso and Amadeu Paixao – who are both on the lookout for Sheffield Wednesday’s next, and third permanent manager of this season.

But The Sun on Sunday goes on to claim how both Alonso and Paixao are ‘chasing different targets’.

Alonso is said to be on the trail of Paul Cook – the former Wigan Athletic and Portsmouth boss is said to have applied for the position earlier in the month, but has since suggested that h might be deterred by the ownership of Chansiri.

Paixao is said to have a different shortlist though – he’s chasing a number of foreign names as well as Chris Coleman.

Plenty of names have come into contention for the Wednesday job since Tony Pulis’ sacking last month, and plenty of names have seemingly fallen right out of contention after what is becoming a prolonged managerial search.

The treatment of Pulis seems to have cast the Wednesday position in a more contested light.

A calamity of errors leading to Sheffield Wednesday’s demise this season, and those faults seem to be sticking around with The Sun on Sunday’s Alan Nixon’s writing that ‘the power struggle is raging’ at Hillsborough.

Sheffield Wednesday head to Goodison Park to face Everton in the FA Cup today.

If Nixon has this right it just shows what a blight Paixao has been on Owls and continues to be.

Putting forward Chris Coleman a relegation specialist who has atrocious record. Coming after Pulis. You can bet your life he is involved with trying to resurrect Hutchinson as well. If DC has an sense he will get rid of Paixao immediately.

It is well known Agents make more money out of free agents. Also if they have connections with clubs. Hence our recruitment has been from a few clubs and we have connections with those clubs where he has been involved or has mates. Namely Watford, Charlton, Sunderland, Burnley, Middlesboro and now Cardiff. In view of number of clubs in country why on earth do we do majority of business with half a dozen.

In latest poll I saw where names of all fancied managers were listed 70% wanted Cook and those would accept him was over 90%. Contrast this with Coleman where not one in a thousand would want him as manager and he would be most unpopular choice ever. How on earth could anybody in right mind think he is right man for the job?

Still think your Cook bet is safe or have you been tempted to cover it with a bet on Thompson?

Chansiri is sat on fence will stick with Thompson until wheels come off. I had small bet on Cook will not back anyone else. Think Nixon article today is spot on. Paixao realises he could be losing lucrative position and trying best to stop appointment of Cook. If Cook got job and did well it would finish him at Wednesday as advised  against him when we went for Pulis. Pulis has caused Paixao difficulty as went pear shaped and made DC very unhappy hence why Alonso being given some office.

I genuinely have no idea what will happen if Thompson keeps winning will remain in post. Popularity of Cook will make it difficult for DC to select another name. At least two of names put up by Paixao would not get work permit and think others would not come hence pushing Coleman.

Paxo has no credability whatsoever, never has. Always been a damaging influence, that influence now looks like relegating us.

Can't take Chansiri seriously because of his reliance on Paxo, despite consistently poor, self serving advice given and acted upon without question.

They are as thick as thieves, well one of them thick, the other a....

I pointed out earlier in the thread, this is a really tough one for DC. Does he go again with a manager who might offer us a slightly better chance of avoiding the drop, but would not be a suitable candidate going forward, were we to avoid the drop. Should he look for a candidate who takes a longer term view, and is prepared to build something sustainable? Looking at that list, and ignoring those who are either, unrealistic, or totally unsuitable, there aren’t many candidates who you think might keep us up, AND be capable of building something more significant. I’m finding it difficult to propose a candidate, and I reckon I, and most of us, have more knowledge of football matters, than DC does. He’s been badly advised all along, so at such a critical time, the last thing he needs, is conflicting advice.

Paixao has had his time and made diabolical decisions on player and manager recruitment, needs binning off now. To have conflicting agendas in the boardroom is only making matters worse.

He hasnt made any decisions although he did recommend players including Bannan,Jao,,Forestieri and Iorfa .The present recruitment team were brought in by Bruce.

I think Quist and gurujuan are good at reading between the lines on this saga and are spot on with their theories on what is going on. I think a 6 months contract with Cardiff would have been very tempting for cook because I think he’d back himself to do well, win the fans over and be offered another more lucrative one.

Can still get 3/1 on Keane...he's only the clear fav with skybet at evens..

No other bookies have slashed odds on him the past 24hrs which suggests they are not taking many bets on him..unsurprisingly..

Don't know what max bets with others are..skybet would have accepted £250 max.

IF that is true, which i doubt very much (and i bow to your greater knowledge) he still didnt make the decision.

He compiles the shortlist of managers, therefore effectively making a decision, Chansiri choosing from a few of his recommended bad choices.

It's like giving a choice of being kicked in the balls or punched in the balls. Neither going to be a good outcome.

We didn't even have a shortlist when Pulis was appointed, Paxo was desperate to get him the job and did.

being reported in the paper that Paxo is now recommending Coleman. What you reckon to that?

I got £100 on Ivic when he steamed in at evens...then went odds on shortly after.

I wanted to know what they would take..and tried to put £1000 on...then popped up, max bet on this market is £250..

I'm guessing you could still have 250 on any except Thompson then...

Some people will believe that.
