Costello 77
He does the Peter Reid type role.. and well. Reid played for his country winning the ball and a short pass to Hoddle or Robson. For a championship manager who likes a fetch and carry type.. he's ideal. Rarely injured or suspended and a good team player. 1

Exactly...and anyone who has played DM will know that there are games where you are under the cosh that all you seem to do is get a foot in for 90 mins

DM in a struggling side is an absolute killer and the fans don't appreciate it.
Guest OrlandoUnTrustful
I think people forget where we currently are as a club. We are 2nd bottom at Xmas and have one of the worst squads in the league. We have no money for new players and have previously been under transfer embargo’s. We have a points deduction for financial irregularities. We don’t even own our home and have Chairman Mao in charge. Unfortunately in our current predicament we need a squad full of Joey Pelupessy’s. We knock players that never moan, keep themselves fit and just get on with their job. Regardless of lack of ability it’s plainly obvious he actually cares and has some pride in the shirt. If he was a mainstay feature of a winning side I'm all for appreciating him.

There is no divergence in my appraisal He isn't good enough. The idea of him being a mainstay of a winning team is hypothetical. It's not something I anticipate. Guest wilyfox
Not good enough. Never was, never will be. He’s ok on his best day. Midfielders need to be more influential than that.

Pieman
People seem to quickly form opinions of players and then never change them, instead of commenting on the actual performance, game by game. Joey wasn’t up to speed when he first came and didn’t meet the required standard. However, for at least his last 10/12 games he has been playing really well. No he isn’t a world beater who jinks past 4 players, but he adds value to this team with his energy and ball recycling. Over recent games, he has also started to get into goal scoring positions, once or twice a game. 4

Owly Mowly
Joey used to get “passed by” last season by seeming to be wrong side often in games and was always trying to catch play up. That seems to have gone now and he is reading the game better and getting in good positions. Perhaps it took time to get used to English pattern of play.

I can could on the fingers of one hand the games where I thought he looked ok. Yesterday he looked ok in a very basic sort of way. Players need more than that at this level. If you average out his ratings in motm threads he more or less comes out exactly where you'd expect. Solid. Unspectacular. Consistent.
Pastor Kidneys
He's done absolutely nothing wrong and deserves his place in the side ... He's also fitter than Luongo who makes Hutch look like an ever present.
jonnyowl
I remember running back into the right nack position in the first half and brilliantly winning th ball back, before passing it straight back to the opposition in a dangerous area! Errol Flashman
Doesn't seem to cause managers much b'llocks either does he. Has he actually ever been injured? Ever? Just a bloke. Being dragged along in a world that moves too quick for it's own good.
