SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY vs BARNSLEY - Post Match Reaction thread - what did you think of today?

Recommended Posts

Good first 10 mins then Pulis panicked and made them all defend.

At 2-1 down Pulis panicked even more and brought on defenders and defensive midfielders to protect the scoreline.

The club will get relegated and deservedly so and will probably get relegated again down to league two because once they are down they won't be coming back for a few years, the players are lower league one players at best.

Basket case of a club, basket case of players.

Pulis deserves a shed load of criticism. Monk and Jos got slated for substitutions they made, but Pulis is just as bad if not worse. Losing today, at half time, you need to get back into it as quickly as possible. Your first 2 changes should not be a Defensive midfielder and a fullback. Attacking options made too late.  Woeful, abject, pitiful performance, which will be replicated week in week out.

This is seen game after game under Pulis and it just unforgivable

It doesn't scream out 'right lets' GO FOR IT'

It screams out (to fans and players alike) that he thinks we're going to get battered 10-0 and so wants to stop the flow and hang on at the current scoreline

Again

Big game against Forest...wouldn't bet on us against anyone

Ashamed to be a fan really

We are so poor it's depressing.

We are Wednesday fans and we should be used to it. We've been s h i t for the better part of the last 20 years. In the past when we were hopeless, dreadful, clueless we would find the funny side of it. The gallows humour would start and that kept us going. Now it's not so easy with out the crowds in the stadium to start it off. Now we are all sat at home in our own miserable cocoons.

Bring back the gallows humour.

Doesn’t this make you think the problem is a lot bigger than the manager? These players aren’t doing it for any manager. Doesn’t matter who is in charge.

Of course it is long term, we know our squad is weak but we are getting poor displays against sides whose squads are equally as poor, regardless of who the manager is.

If we play square pegs in square holes and try to win then fair enough, take it on the chin.

We have a defender swimming against the tide in midfield, an immobile centre back at full back, goodness what position Paterson should play but it can't be the one where he touches the ball more with his hands during a game than with his feet.

We go in losing at half time two games in succession and the one change we make in both games is to bring on a defensive midfielder.

I said it in the match day thread, it feels like we are having the p*ss taken out of us.

Would love our players to know where our other players are like Barnsley did ... oh and be able to actually control the ball with a first touch...oh and not over/under hit a pass more often than not. Seems most other teams have players capable of doing that even at the same end of the table as us ...

Can't see how we're going to score goals. We just hoof it upfield and hope someone can chase it down. No inter-passing in their half of the pitch. It's like they're making it up as they go on. The only shape Pulis cares about is defensive shape - no plan for attacking. His teams usually sneak the odd goal from set-pieces but they're as bad as ever.

Fancy starting with a midfield of Bannan, a centre-forward and a centre-half!  Do we have to keep playing Paterson just because he's got a long throw? Because as a midfielder he's useless.

Windass did all that could be expected of him - what a thankless task. We looked better with Pelupessy (again) and he was so unlucky not to score. At least Rhodes tried to pass to a blue shirt. Harris started well but ran out of steam. Whatever has happened to Izzy Brown - he looks like a football is something new to him.

Stop expecting things from this team. They are poor and simply are not good enough to compete or win football matches. Hard to accept I know but it is what it is. A consequence of the last 4-5 years. So frustrating and sad.

But this team and squad was apparently good enough for Monk. We were doing better with him in charge - why change, if nothing changes?

How long do we keep saying, well Pulis might win next week, he's only been here *insert number of games* so he needs time?
