I don't think they would know who all the players and coaches are at all so if they need to identify someone what is the matter with the skin colour as an identifier? Is it offensive? If the guy had ginger hair would it be offensive to refer to that?

You don't think officials know the names?

Are you serious?

Wow you think they do? officials know all the players and staffs names!?

reffing 2 foreign clubs, a ref is gonna be able to put a name to the face of every player and staff?!?

no chance

It's not the Dog and Duck versus The Red Lion.

It's a Champions League game.

The officials are professionals, of course they will know who they are.

Here we go again.

Another debate on racism, same posters defending it.

You DO NOT refer to a person by their skin colour.  The fourth official would not say ' the white one' .  He is woefully ignorant of the connotations of reducing a person to their skin colour. This is racism .

The fact that some posters are clearly clueless about what racism is , is not surprising . There are non so blind as those who do not want to see.

On another note, great to see the racist Millwall supporters check mated tonight by the club and players. They had to applaud the gestures made by their own players otherwise their ' Marxist organisation'  excuse for booing would be dead in the water.

If he was the only white guy in the area of course he would.

If he has simply said the black guy how is that possibly offensive?

No he wouldn't, he would have said ' third coach along', or referred to him by name.

Demba Ba in the video clip explains to the 4th official why it's offensive.

At least three people in this thread have explained why referring to someone as ' the black one'  is offensive.

If you don't care, you don't care ...but it is racism, pure and simple ...to reduce someone to their skin colour .  In an officiating set up like it this it also throws doubt on the officials  impartiality .

So if it was 7 black guys and 1 white you think the referee would count how far along he was rather than just say the white guy?

Yes, or use his name . If he didn't know his name he would ask him.

Go on, keep defending racism, I'm interested in how many excuses you are going to come out with.
