Wages if Relegated

Recommended Posts

Anyone know how the wage structure works now in Leagues One and Two? I know they have wage caps not don't they?

Was just wondering how it would work if we are relegated and players are under contract on wages that are over what the wage cap is?

Does League One not have a parachute payment option the same as the one from the Premier League to the Championship?

In fairness  should be parachute payments.

Only applies to new signings and players who renew their contracts.

Think we only have something like 7 or 8 players under contract for next season.
I cant see any of the decent players signing again for 'only' £2,500 per week.
If we do go down this season we are in for a very tough time.

Because our better players that are out of contract will be able to get more then £2,500 at a Championship club.

With the wage structure in league 1 and 2 big clubs used 2 walk that league or pretty much . U will see clubs like sunderland portsmouth etc really in trouble if they dont go up this season , they cant fetch in new players unless there on very very low wages ,you cant atttact quality on £2500 max wage. Clubs like us who have a squad at present that wouldnt get in the top 6 in league 1 are in trouble . Unless we make 6 signings in jan who will be good enough to be a top6 league 1 standard we are in trouble. Exactly what can be signed for £2500? U wont even be able to get loans in from prem or championship as surely they wont loan players out for practically free. If we go down and same for derby forest we and they are in serious trouble , could be in lower leagues for 10-20 years .the clubs what will do best will be the best managed on and off the pitch and a fantastic youth system. We are the worst by miles on those fronts.
