Popular Post Lord Snooty
"This is a fantastic football Club, with wonderful potential, but potential alone doesn't take you anywhere, we've got to bring back an identity to this football club. "This is big working class area, and they want to see their players -and it is their players , it's their club, we're just custodians of it- they want to see players give everything for that shirt and I want to give it to them." "I want to bring to this football club a fit, organised, disciplined team, a positive team that plays up the pitch, but also a positive front-foot forward-looking group of coaching staff, medical staff, everybody, everybody connected to the club, positive with an identity and lifting this cloud and taking it away." "Stoke? They've got a strong squad, there's a growing expectation for them to be top 6. And they have got a strong enough group. It'll be a tough game for us, but we haven't had a lot of time to really even talk about how Stoke play. But every game in this league is tough. But I want to focus on what we're doing, we have got areas which, well, everybody can see need improving and we'll do that. This is a great football club , one of the great traditional football club, it's a wonderful City and the opportunity....I don't do easy jobs! But the opportunity to come here and shake it up it, turn it around and push it in the right direction, It's a challenge but given a fair whip, I can achieve that. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WEDNESDAY V's STOKE CITY Sky Bet Championship. Saturday 28th November 2020 kick Off 3:00pm, Hillsborough. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- WEDNESDAY Owls boss Tony Pulis has a decision to make upfront, and area he's described as needing an injection of pace. There's a possibility Elias Kachunga might be droughted in to replace Jordan Rhodes. Isaiah Brown is pushing for recall to the side while Kadeem Harris is also in contention for an appearance after serving a three-match suspension. Joe Wildsmith will start between the sticks for Wednesday after Kieren Westwood picked up an injury in his first start of the season at Swansea. The boss will also have to decide whether to stick with the 5-4-1 employed at Swansea or revert to the more attack lined 4-3-3/4-5-1 employed against Preston, despite the 10 man defeat. If wicking with a 5 it might be that youngster Liam Shaw is preferred to Joost Van Aken. If a four, the choice seems to be between bringing in Harris in midfield and Odubajo dropping back or brining Matt Penney in from the cold and letting Odubajo carry on in a higher role , which saw him have one of his better performances in an owls shirt last time out. Sheffield Wednesday possible: Wildsmith Palmer Lees Borner Odubajo Paterson Lunogo Bannan Harris Kachunga Reach ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- STOKE CITY Although Michael O'Neill will be delighted with the recent form of Tyrese Campbell, the Potters only have six points to show for their most recent efforts in the final third. Losing first-choice goalkeepers Adam Davies and Angus Gunn to injury has not helped the cause, but the club's experienced defenders have not eased the burden on England Under-21 international Josef Bursik. Niki Maenpaa, the former Bristol City stopper, has been brought into the squad, but there is a responsibility on each member of the squad to return to working collectively as a defensive unit. Maenpaa should come in for his Stoke debut providing that he has proven his fitness in training. Jordan Thompson and Jacob Brown are in contention for a recall to the side, while James Chester could return to the back three. Ex-Owls striker Steven Fletcher has suffered injury and will miss the game. This might open the door for Sheffield born striker Lee Gregory. Maenpaa Souttar Chester Fox Smith Mikel Clucas Tymon Powell Gregory Campbell ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FORM GUIDE Wednesday form: L-L-W-D-L-D Stoke City form: L-W-L-W-W-L ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AS IT STANDS... 26
Morepork
Thanks Snoots. We still have plenty of injuries and a very difficult run of fixtures so once again its about the performance for me. Let's build on the positives of the last two games. Popular Post nevthelodgemoorowl
Me and my Dad again on a misty day at the old Victoria ground 3-1 down at half time and Mr Richie (I think) added to our misery on the hour mark. Dad was pestering me to leave with on 75 minutes with Owls fans streaming away. The dampness just added to the misery. A glimmer of hope as Pearson popped up to make it 4-2 . Almost immediately lane was on hand for his second and Wednesdays third. Pearson rammed in the leveler on the stroke of time. Almost miraculously Fantham hit the bar with the last kick of the game. There were only two or three dozen there to witness these events. Such high spirits as we jumped on the train. "great draw that and we could have won" They were so upset to have missed all the fun. Couldn't wait to get my Green-Un and Fish, chips & mushy peas for tea. Dad went round to the Club for a pint and game of Snooker. 12
Buddy Repperton
Really hope he's here to sort this mess and not just picking up a big payout regardless. They all say the right things and build expectations. I wish him all the best UTO

Wor’Jackie
At least Fletch won’t be able to stick the knife in. Then again, Fox is likely to play..... Both sides will be very defensive out of possession so this will come down to who is most effective going forward. And considering our dearth of options compared to the likes of Gregory and Campbell, we'll do remarkably well to win this one. Heart says 1-0 win for Stoke, but of course I’d love to be wrong. airborne_rat_of_s6
Need a win soon as the relegation zone is slipping away from the rest of the pack. Bottom three at Xmas normally means one thing. UTO’s

Listen to the way he speaks about Stoke, it meant something to him and it always will. We could be his finest hour, he sees that, he still looks hungry and in DC he probably has someone who will back him 100%. It could be a great match. Of all the managers we’ve had under DC, Pulis is already my favourite. I think he’s principled in a way Bruce could never understand...... Incognito Owl
Thanks Snoots, "Parley with Pulis" Haha. I'm going with a 2-0 win. I think we will line up 4-3-3: GK: Wildsmith, RB: Palmer, CB: Lees, CB: Böner, LB: Odubajo, CDM: Luongo, CM: Paterson, CM: Bannan, RW: Harris, ST: Rhodes, LW: Reach.

Rogerwyldesmullet
Did anyone have knobblier knees than Terry Conroy? Did anyone have blonder hair than Jimmy Greenhoff? Did anyone look older than George Eastham? Was anything odder than the 1960s Victoria Ground chant “Zigger Zagger Zigger Zagger Stoke Ci-ty”? Well I doubt it, but we do have someone who can throw it further than Rory Delap! Cmon you blue n white wizaaards!

gazzamk2
I've never really listened to Tony Pulis before. I've heard him of course, and seen him, looking a bit loony with his trademark club base ball cap, but I've never really listened to him. But now he's speaking about us, and knowing how things have been for us, I really feel he gets it. And gets Wednesday, and what we've been through. I will always get behind a new manager, I think you have to, you know, give them a chance. But I'm starting to actually believe in Tony Pulis, and it feels pretty good! We'll probably get bleedin battered now 7
heppers
At least Pulis knows what the basics are the fans want. That is a starting point. Whether he can deliver it is another matter. Come on TP. Come on Wednesday. 3 points please. 2
