Liam Shaw

Thought he played very well.  Didn't look out of place imo and he certainly got stuck in.  

 

I think we will be seeing more of this lad over the coming weeks and months.  

 

What are fellow Owls thoughts on the young lad?

Thought he did great and going to stick my neck out here and say he looks like a real contender for a first team place but probably too early to be a regular starter .

No problems at all with what we’ve seen so far - seems quick, decisive and not afraid to get stuck in. We all want these lads to kick on and be excellent.

Watched this lad for a few years now really like him great size physic I think he's going to be a good box to box player he also as an eye for goal

Looked well looks quite quick and has physicality also so that is a plus. Hope he comes on as a player.

Was impressed when he played against Rochdale . Kind of looked like the leader / old head of the defence and not borner (not a knock on borner who’s been much improved recently)

He’s got the build of a Pulis player. I think this lad might have a big part to play this season.

When we were predicting Pulis’s team a couple of weeks ago I said I’d play Shaw in midfield instead of Pelupessy and the only reply I got was someone saying “how can you play Shaw?”.  
Anyway, I rate the player highly myself and expect to see him used more as he returns to full fitness

I assume he’s going to get a bit more football over the next few weeks so will be interesting to see how he goes

He certainly had more impact on the game than Joey did, get the feeling that Pulis will have him in the match day squad as he can cover several positions. When he is fit he may be a starter for away games as DM

Looks the most likely of the younguns to get into first team on a regular basis.

If we get it right with Hunt and Shaw, then they will both be big players for us over the next few years.

 

Shaw looks more ready for first team football now, while I think Hunt would benefit from a loan move.

Yeah he looks a unit, but he's mobile and pretty calm under pressure as well. Maybe he's a decent backup for Luongo. He certainly isn't shy of a tackle.

I originally thought that JVA would be able to fulfill that role as he's no CB but after seeing some of the miscalculated tackles and his inability to get tight on a player I don't think so.

Hopefully he can give Luongo some proper back up and competition in the CDM role

He is a box to box midfielder who was used both as CB and as a striker for both U-18 and U-23 sides. Talented player with high footballing IQ.

 

Still don't think Pulis used him in his best role, but thought he did quite well.

 

Our youngsters proved that they can step up and perform and I'm quite concerned with manager's reputation of rarely playing them.
