OwlsAce
This thread is not a reflection of Jordan's cameo role today but to all those people saying ,if he gets the service or a run of games or play to his strengths he will score goals . Sorry but he's had his chance ,he's not the same player I saw put 4 past us for Huddersfield. The guy has no strengths he can't hold the ball up ,he's painfully slow ,his shooting is weak and he cant head the ball . Please no more "give him a chance" 3
Mystic Neg
Yet in terms of minutes played for us it all adds up to roughly a goal every other game. He needs a long run of games before I agree with you.
doubleo
Might as well give him a run in the team through to Xmas - I don’t see us bristling with strikers that are actually going to score.
Pastor Kidneys
As bad as he is we have run out of options ... He certainly can't be worse than the donkey Paterson. How he's earning a living as a footballer is a total mystery.

Please no more "give him a chance" 1 He’s been the biggest flop we’ve ever signed 2 They’re are few alternatives in the games leading up to the transfer window. 3. The nearest thing we had to a goal scorer is now suspended. 4. Apart from penalties, our midfield don’t seem to know where the net is. Agree with what you’ve said, but you’re wasting your breath. We need goals, he might get 3-4 over a ten game period which might prove vital come May.
jrh
Please tell me the most games he has started in a row since he's been at the club? I'd be very surprised if it was over 4/5!

Kachunga and Paterson for the next 3 games then? With Reach as back-up striker? That’ll work.

mcmigo
I would give Rhodes one more shot, next to the kid Hagan. Tell Hagan to run himself silly for an hour , leave it all out there, chase everything and create space, and Rhodes to goal hang. Drag him off spent after an hour and stick someone else on to hold it up there. if that doesn’t work, then give up as we have tried everything else. 1

Very fair point. At least give him a run until Christmas as we can’t bring in anyone new until January.

Yes, that hattrick against Forest has done his minutes per goal stats the world of good. It's crazy to think that he scored three goals in those 37 minutes, and then failed to notch again in the other 647 minutes he played last season, isn't it? Lunny1968
He is a busted flush. Whatever qualities he once had have deserted him. We need to move on and more specifically move him on. A terrible signing, probably the worst in the history of the club. All these people who bang on about give him the service and he will score need to remove their heads from the sand. This ship has sailed. 1

Rogerwyldesmullet
He has sadly become an £8million Francis Jeffers before our very eyes. Nice bloke but is a distraction now. Play the yoof.

So it’s also important to look at whether his presence in the side detracted from our overall performance. It didn’t. Here are our results in the games where he’s played at least 45 minutes during that time:- P10. W5. D3. L2 Its a much-repeated myth that playing with Rhodes is like playing with ten men. Well clearly, it isn’t. So if he scores more regularly than our other strikers, and he doesn’t have a negative impact on results, it’s hard to make the case for other pairings or lone-strikers. Well clearly, it isn’t. So if he scores more regularly than our other strikers, and he doesn’t have a negative impact on results, it’s hard to make the case for other pairings or lone-strikers. The fact that Rhodes' entire goal haul for last season came in 37 minutes out of the 684 he played is the very opposite of regular. In his entire Wednesday career, he's scored in 9 league matches. To say he's appeared in 72 games with an average of 52 minutes per game, that doesn't scream that he's a regular scorer to me. When you consider how he performed against Windass for example last season, Windass played fewer minutes than Rhodes (and in a team which was massively struggling by the time he arrived) but scored the same number of goals... Windass: 468 minutes - 3 goals (in 3 different games) - 156 minutes per goal Rhodes: 684 minutes - 3 goals (in 1 game) - 228 minutes per goal That Windass' goalscoring has disappeared over a cliff so far this season probably has more to do with the chances we (don't) create for our forwards than his finishing. I don't think any of our strikers would have excelled in our team so far this season, to be honest. Rhodes' statistics this season probably benefit from him having played so little. I can't imagine he'd have notched many more goals, given the paucity of chances we create and the fact that he's hardly the type of forward who creates chances for himself. It's not as if our forwards have been missing loads of great chances, is it? If we start creating chances, then that can only benefit all of our forwards. As we saw last season, both Windass and Rhodes (well, for 37 minutes, at least) have it in them to put them away.
A E Neuman NYowl
The problem with Rhodes is that his allround contribution to the team is negligible, he can't hold the ball up and he can't stretch a defence, he has no pace and no strength. Unless he is scoring he brings nothing else to the table. In a team that is getting loads of balls into the box you may be able to find a place in the team for him, but we don't and we can't afford to carry a player like him. Even then I think his reactions have slowed down since his Huddersfield days and he is not the poacher he once was. 6 managers who see him every day can see this, they can't all have an adgenda against him.. Nice bloke but not good enough. 4
