Monk’s Solution

In his post match interview the coach was asked what we need to do to improve our goal scoring record.

To hear his answer, repeated several times, that ‘we just need the ball to fall for us’ and ‘the goalkeeper needs to play less well’ misses the point totally and smacks of a Sunday League manager summing up in the pub after the game.

If Monk doesn’t have a solution, who in the club does?

As I said in another thread, It's getting boring hearing the same thing.

He need's to walk, end of.

When the players aren’t delivering for you, there’s a reason.

Normally one of these reasons...

They don’t like you

They don’t respect you

They don’t understand what you want from them

They don’t agree with you

Whatever, it’s time to go.

Makes about as much sense as Hitler's final solution. You'll notice that the "ball tends to fall" to teams that are brave enough to attack in numbers and sometimes take a risk. We don't do this EVER under the drab Monk

Their keeper had a very good game saving 8 attempts

The one from Reach was world class

That might be pushing it a bit but it was a very good save and to grasp it as well took some doing.

That was the only shot you wouldn't expect any competent professional to make and its not like keepers have been world class against us this season so for Monk to make a point of that in asking what we need to do rather than point towards working on improving things with his fantastic new coaching staff is just waffle.

He's had enough time, clearly a Charleton.

Im not a Monk fan at all but this thread is a bit unfair. What else is he supposed to say? He’s not exactly going to say ‘well, the strikers I signed are poo which is why we can’t score’ even though that is obviously the truth.

Also’ to be fair he’s right, we do need one to ‘drop for us.’ That Reach save was superb as most keepers would have parried that and we’d maybe get a tap in from the rebound.

Jordan Rhodes, apparently.

🤔

I must admit though, I'd have given him another run out instead of Marriott given the way he's played in recent games.

Failing that, er...James Beattie?

Id genuinely rather Beattie started than Patterson. Wish JR would decided to fire on all cylinders again. He’s like an old car that’s so loved but just not performing... yet you want it to perform like it once did but it just splutters at you.

Simple answer. Chansiri.

The goals scored between all our strikers is shambolic. We simply need to go and spend a few bob in January, along with a bit more creativity in midfield. Look at what Brentford did with Toney. Yes they had significant funds following the sale of watkins et al, but it’s the principle. The chairman has said he will back monk. Making the correct signings, however, is the very difficult task.

If he gives his head a wobble and changes his formation then he might find a winning formula

We must be the easiest team to play against in the entire league. All you have to do is press Bannan so he drops so deep he’s stepping on the centre halves toes, then Pelupessy follows him and before you know it there’s about a 20 yard gap between midfield and attack

I think Chansiri is about done tbh. He’s understandably lost his ambition and seems he’s content to keep us ticking over

We haven't scored from open in what seems likes ages, we are completely woeful and the man is out of his depth.

We have been thrown a lifeline by having our points deduction reduced by 6 points, Chansiri needs to grab that lifeline and get this joker out of the club.
