Having two defenders around him might have something to do with that .. I think his delivery is pretty good. However, It’s a different kind of delivery we need to our forwards this season but that’s a different subject.

yer agree to some point , the system monk plays is awful , offers no width with only having 1 on each side instead of 2 when full backs push forward . strikers dont stand a chance unless they fancy there chances from a corner or set piece ,otherwise none of our strikers will get anywhere near 10 goals this season. the system monk plays sometimes means 3 centre halves are marking 1 striker then we get done on flanks id play 4132 or 4141 with full backs pushing forward when attacking and getting support from wide players when  defending ,having a defensive playing in front of 2 centre halves, similar to what phillips does at scummy leeds , this system would score far more goals and wouldnt bore us silly.

Such as?

For every poor signing under Carlos there were probably 2 good ones. Every club makes mistakes in the transfer market. Our major mistakes came through not selling players in 2017-18 when we needed to refresh and recoup some money.

chansiri constantly says the manager makes the choices who he signs ,so monk will be at fault if his signings fail not chansiri who backed him, we all know we had a committee at start of carlos reign which was disbanded well before xmas 2015 ,we already had good players k lee westwood, lees, loovens hutchinson , the commitee added wallace, pudil, hunt, forestieri ,bannan hooper and a couple of others which gave us a very decent side and at that time nobody was getting stupid money , once carlos had full charge thats when we made bad signing after bad signing ,signing players in there 30s and giving them 3 year deals is also not a good idea . we have had a really poor recruitment team since the committee left our wage bill went from 12 million to over 40million (since lowered) chansiri should have had better advise and sold forestieri to fulham ,his agent set the deal up and he kicked off refusing to travel to norwich , the deal was 12million rising to 15million if we sold him and didnt get rhodes which will cost 16million in transfer fees and wages by next summer then we wouldn`t have got into so much mess.

Very interesting suggestions and I’d agree with 4-1-4-1...

however my point was based on us now having forwards that benefit more from balls played to their feet or down the channels I open play. That’s not to say I don’t want to see crosses (cause ido)  but frankly our forwards don’t have the aerial presence of Fletcher and Big Dave .. so the whole team needs to play 30 yards further up the pitch

Owlstalker 1: We're better off without him cos he can't cross or shoot. We'll never score while we have wingers who can't cross.

Owlstalker 2: We'll really miss his work rate which goes largely unappreciated.

Me: We'll really miss his work rate and the way he drives us forward by running at people and getting us up the pitch but we also need to solve the problem of not creating enough chances from crosses. His absence might help us find a solution but it might also confirm how much we need his energy. We'll see.

Fair enough. I agree the best transfer decisions were made when the committee was in place.

Still not sure you can blame Carlos for many of the strange signings and certainly not for the budget, no manager should be blamed for the finances as the club have to provide the manager a budget to work within and if the signings the manager wants are way above what the club can afford then they have to say no.

A very much doubt Carlos wanted to sign both Rhodes and Winnall in the same transfer window when he had a forward line he trusted, one maybe but not both and I doubt he picked out Urby Emanuelson either judging by how much he used him.
