A couple of hypothetical questions about Steve Bruce

If Bruce doesn't walk, where does he finish with Wednesday?

 

Also if he had remained manager here and achieved the same results as Bullen/Monk did before Christmas. Where does he finish then?

 

Just something I've been contemplating over the last hour or so.

Think the squad was a bit limited.. certainly behind Leeds, West Brom, Brentford and Fulham in terms of quality. 
 

But in that next bracket down with Cardiff, Forest, Swansea etc. Reckon we’d have finished between 5th and 10th

If DC gave Bruce a longer term contract, would Newcastle have come sniffing?

I agree I'd have him back if that is true. Not sure he'd want it and not sure he'll actually get sacked.

As much as I hate him for how he left i would have him back in heart beat had he of stayed we wouldn't be the position were in (still have points deduction but I think we'd be in positive numbers under him)

I think it was probably a bit of both.

Could see Wednesday were going nowhere fast and a Premiership club offered him a way out.

Bruce is one of the few managers around who can really get a poor/average team to punch above its weight and really compete, I’ve no doubt he was our best chance of getting promoted in a long long time.

There’s a way of going about things though. How difficult would it have been for him to take 2 minutes out of his day to just release a statement thanking the fans, and say it’s just an opportunity he couldn’t turn down and he wishes us well and really appreciates the time off the chairman gave him when he started. I think most of us would have actually wished him well if he did, now 99% of our fans dislike him.
 

But I do also think he knew he wasn’t going to be backed by Chansiri to bring in who he wanted.

That's why there are contacts, that pay managers well and come with conditions.  Both sides agree to the terms, and neither side has to sign up if they don't agree.

 

Contracts seem to be an inconvenience to managers and players, but they expect them to be followed to the letter when it comes to a payout or wages.
