Garry Monk Comparison Stats @ Hillsborough

They will

We've become numb to it all as we're so close to it

But look at our squad, look at the player values, the performances, the results

My prediction (and I'm never wrong - I must point that out) is that this squad will really be looked back on as one of the most tragic, ill equipped squads in our lifetime

Here's a comparison.

Sibon, Kuqi, Quinn, and Pressman (although can't really remember what level he was like then) improve us, all the centre backs, centre mids and back ups for every position are better now.

We will look back on this squad as right alongside / worse than that one

And yet you've been saying how good many of our recent signings are and how great it is that we've moved away from expensive has beens.

A handful of games later and they are suddenly one of the worst squads we've ever had?

Comparing manager stats is utterly ridiculous

Let me give you an example

Big Ron's squad was like driving a Porsche. Made up of quality parts, running smoothly and with excellent components

Monk is currently driving a clapped out Mini Metro

Saying Big Ron won more races in his Porsche so is a better driver than Monk in his Mini Metro is utter farce

Come on people - you're better than this

Manager comparisons are (and always have been) ridiculous

Not the same players, division, spending power, opposition, coaches etc etc

If you were ever going to compare stats of something that should never be compared  it's managerial statistics

It's a farce and anyone looking at them thinking it tells you anything at all is naive beyond belief

If you put up a poll on here asking the question.

'Who have been our best and worst managers in the last 50 years.?'

I would guess amongst the leaders in the 'best' poll would include (in no particular order).

Atkinson

Charlton

Wilkinson

Carvalhal

And the top of the poll for the 'worst' would include:

Burtenshaw

Yorath

Shreeve

Eustace

Luhukay

Monk

It's no coincidence that those labelled as our best managers are towards the top of that points per game statistics list and those called our 'worst are at the bottom of that list.

Ultimately a managers success is always going to be gauged on results.

Level 1:

Checked it out, and #SWFC’s home run at the moment of 11 games in all competitions is their worst Hillsborough form since they went 15 matches without a win across the 1974/75 and 1975/76 seasons under Steve Burtenshaw and Len Ashurst.

Didn't Big Ron assemble the quality components though.

Using your own analogy Monk picked up a decent working motor from Bruce. It went ok for a while then Monk started to tweak it and it started to go badly wrong.

Then he bought all his own parts and it drove just as bad as before except maybe it didnt even look as nice as it did.

The trend is downwards.

He did - because he was given a formula one budget to work with

Monk's been thrown a spanner and told to build a car using old dustbins and a roof off an old tin shed

Big Ron was given a shoestring budget and made the most out of what he already had.

It could also be said that it's much harder to be successful in the 1st Division than the 2nd Division.

Aye...

ALREYT!!!

Turned under performing and underused players  into a great team.

Brought in a free transfer and transformed the way we played.

Palmer , Nilsson Williams, Harkes, Wilson, King,Francis brought in cheaply.
