Plonk
I honestly think it would be the best thing to happen to football. Use it to restructure the leagues so that it becomes competitive again. Would be great to see the likes of wolves and Everton being capable of winning the league again. Teams getting promoted would actually stand a chance of going up and competing. We might even see another Wimbledon rising up. Let them go and take their plastic tv watching fans with them.
darra
When it happens i'd feel sorry for the genuine fans having to travel all over europe to watch their team for away matches but in reality the likes of Arsenal, Man U etal are watched by corporate fans and hangers on these days so it probably wouldn't bother the clubs in the slightest they'd be too busy counting their mega bucks Edited October 21, 2020 by darra
Utah Owl
Seriously hope this happens. fizz them off to their European Super League then ban them from any participation in domestic football including the cup competitions. If they ever want to return to the domestic game, then they have to start again at the very bottom (9th tier at least) and work their way up. Even better if all other European domestic leagues follow suit. It's people like SKY that are driving this so hopefully the fans will have no appetite for it and the greedy clubs will then be well and truly screwed. scram
If there were to be a euro league with the participants banned from their own leagues then domestic league football would crumble financially Which long term would be a good thing For those survived... Kopparberg
Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has resigned under increasing pressure, but said he had accepted proposals for the club to join a European Super League. Fans had been trying to remove Bartomeu, who became president in 2014 and had fallen out with Lionel Messi. He stood down on Tuesday, along with the entire board of directors. In a leaving speech Bartomeu said Barca had begun proceedings to join a Super League to help its financial future. Last week, BBC Sport reported talks had taken place over the creation of a new £4.6bn European Premier League involving the top sides from across the continent, although discussions are at an early stage. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54713209
