Nah. They won’t leave the PL. Probably be allowed to opt out of FA and League Cup, and numerous other sops the keep them sweet, but they’ll get to do both.

Can't see how they wouldn't leave. The proposed league is supposed to be 18 teams so 36 games plus another 36 in the EPLI for starters

It may be they only play one another once, or split into 2 leagues for example...

This is all about TV rights money.

The wealthiest clubs get even richer.

It won't be long before it's extended globally. European winners v South American winners etc.

Financial decision not football!

Good point Darra.

They won't want their prized players cash cows injured or fatigued.

They’ll end up with squads so large they’ll be able to cope.

Hope not.

To be honest, the so called champions league is a European super league anyway. All this new idea will do is protect the top clubs for European footie for 20 years.  The Big club owners have realized that many other clubs are being bought by billionaires and they want a closed shop before these new owners start catching up.

Would love it if after a dozen games Bayern Munich and Real Madrid were 10 points clear at top with Liverpool and Man United bottom with 2 draws between em. :tango:

Yes.

Man Utd will no doubt want to be in a ESL to secure the bag of cash... they’ve only just got back into the Champions League this season - so it’s basically securing big money without (even) achieving top 4 in the Prem.

A get out of jail free card.

They would be playing 2 games a week for around 9 months of the year

Why the need for rule changes?

Removal of VAR, a return to the equal distribution of TV rights, end drinks breaks and the exploitation of injury time, reduce matchday squads and a total revision of the transfer market.

Let them go.

Re assess the number of teams in each league (once they have gone) and re name the league.

Something revolutionary like League 1, 2, 3 and 4?

Oooo, Ooooooo

Please sir, please sir

I have an idea

How about

Division 1

Division 2

Division 3

Division 4
