Popular Post areNOTwhatTHEYseem
As horrible as it was to watch those final few minutes, the fact that we dug in and hung on to the three points today could be a massive confidence boost for the players after the way we've conceded late goals for fun in recent times, and particularly after what happened last time out against QPR. These kind of things have a nasty habit of becoming a pattern if they're not nipped in the bud, and it's safe to say that another late goal could well have cemented that idea within the players' psyche for the foreseeable future. As it is, they've shown that they have it in them to do what's necessary to see out a victory in the face of great pressure, and this can only be a good thing going forwards. Hopefully we'll now see the nerves jangling a bit less the next time we're in a similar situation and we can start to put these games to bed with a little less drama! 15
CalmJimmers
To say our whole defence is terrible and our keeper has wet biscuit hands, we don't concede many. Bloody love it. Glad we've got another proper defender of Flint in who will just head and boot everything in his way. Very experienced as well. 2

S1Owl
played well today, just wished it was 0-3 at least, one of those 'someone's gonna get a hammering' times hopefully but said it before then starts again..
HIGHERSTATE
Few different players though, hopefully with a different mentality...that spreads through the team. Havent seen a Wednesday team run that much for a couple of years

Especially after what happened against QPR, it could have been really damaging to concede another late equaliser today.

alanharper
Who else had flashbacks to Luongo's late missed chance to seal the QPR game (and countless other examples of us failing to kill games before throwing it away) when Marriott put that late shot wide?!

Popular Post davetherivelinowl
It worked today but I utterly hate the tactics of dropping back to the edge of our box and letting them launch stuff into our box. Then, if we win it we launch it as far away as possible just so it can come back again. What's wrong with passing it around and keeping the ball for a while, carry it up the pitch and keep it there. 9
RockieOwl
Yeah agree. We sat deep, was rubbish with the ball in the last 10 or 15 minutes, and Hogan had that one chance. Looked offside but maybe odabajo was playing him on. However it was their only real chance and with the amount of times we have conceded late their confidence is probably shot. Hopefully this will give them a lot more confidence to be composed towards the end of the game. Flint is a good signing too but will also help and probably did today
wakefieldowl
Cut the defecit to safety from 12 to 7 points after 5 only games....and only 4 more to get off the bottom. Good going. Before the season started i thought wed catch barnsley rovrum wycombe and luton. Weve got 3 of those coming up in october. We need to be looking at 7 points minimum from those 3. We do that and well comfortably stay up, by the look of it
Errol Flashman
I'm sure there never used to be that much injury time in games. When I were a kid it always seemed to be 3 minutes. Seems to have just doubled all the time. Still, cracking result. 2 Just a bloke. Being dragged along in a world that moves too quick for it's own good. Bluesteel
Shows the fine margins again just like qpr. Where we didn’t get the second and paid yet today we got away with it. We seem to go at it right from the off which is great if we take the chances. At the moment we’d be outside the playoffs so the team is doing well. Great to hear Flint coming in without training and commanding this well. A blow for Borner. If we set a target of six games then we aren’t too far off. Especially with a surprise win on Wednesday which could’ve been more likely with the crowd. if we are on 0 points this time next week whilst the league is still in its infancy at the bottom it would be a great achievement
Kopparberg
I wasn’t too worried actually, mainly because when they started hoofing it I thought to myself - we have flint. We owe a lot to JVA for that block however. I think we should’ve scored more than one today - then it wouldn’t be a worry.
Lawrie Madden
Well my prediction for wiping the minus 12 off was 7 games and we can achieve that in the next week so hopefully i'll be spot on
The only way is S6
Excellent. Learned from QPR game. Still believe we’ll beat & overtake Wycombe on Halloween
fpowl
Think it’s going to be a very tense season we don’t seem to have the cutting edge yet maybe that comes in time to go and extend a lead to 2/3 goals which means we are always going to be under the cosh in the last 10-15 minutes our efforts are their to be seen and watching games like that I actually feel like I’ve played init especially at the end this season will send me grey but the wins are much deserved can’t help but thinking we need something else that said when our defence is up and running maybe we are set piece masters
