Tbf this ref has been pretty throw, but another meh performance from England.

Why or why do managers start so well then allllllllways call into the same old traps and become more and more defensive as time goes on. Mystifying

I swear before and just after the World Cup we were playing really good stuff and exciting attacking side. What the fizz has happened?

It won’t happen but I’d get shut of Southgate. A failed club manager who got the gig for being a yes man and then got us to the semis on the back of the easiest run of games possible.

Let's not forget that's a back 5 with two DMs against an average side like Denmark.

Could understand it a bit more if it was against one of the big boys.

yep, especially when you’re then relying on Mount to be that creative player - never going to work.

Fine with 5 at the back but having 2dm’s in front is just criminal - need 2 players in there who can link play.

I could understand us being defensive against Belgium but had hoped for a bit more attacking ambition and midfield creativity today.

Scared football.

Scared to lose.

We are weak in defence, so we invite teams onto us by having 8 defensive players, then wonder why we struggle..

We went down to 10 men and really didn't miss the man because we already had enough at the back.

Southgate got lucky in the World Cup but we also took Spain apart, for a half, playing 4-3-3.

If you have to play players to protect other players, then the protected player shouldn't be playing.

Leaving Grealish out was pathetic, clearly doesn’t like him so why call him up?

Probably the best English wide man so far this season and, comfortable centrally too. Plays last week and gets MOM in his first England game then, left to rot on the bench. He makes things happen, draws players out.

Baffling that Southgate refuses to use him.

Southgate is way too negative.

3 man defence with 2 holding mids is so negative.

We don't have enough technical players to play this possession game. Bar Grealish, no one is going to thread a ball through or make something happen.

Mount is one of the positives to come out of this break. Good movement, tends to have an end product. He’s not a winger though.

Absolutely, Redknapp now talking about playing Rice in a back 3 so we are more comfortable on the ball at the back - how about not playing players out of position and playing to our strengths, which at the moment are the attacking options.

English football lol

Scotland are nothing if not consistent, 3 games, 3 shots on goal against 3 football super powers.

yep was just about to say, age old saying of ‘attack best form of defence’

Our attacking options far outweigh our defensive, let’s put the focus on some more expansive football.

Admittedly Sancho did naff all when he came on

Mount is a decent player but not sure where he fits in best. As you say, he's not a winger but if playing him as a creative midfielder I'd rather go with Foden or Grealish.
