Eric McMordie

He was one I remembered.I was told at the time he turned up back at Hillsborough after his loan with his boots and said if you want me I'm here. He didn't want much  but we didn't any money to pay him.  We didn't take him up on it. We went down.

He'd been fantastic.

oh and also Terry Curran, pivotal part of the set up that turned us into a promotion side

Curran McCulloch Mellor - chances galore

Cunningham - gave us something different

Sheridan - changed the dynamic of how we played

Looked certs to go down in 2001. Shreeves bringing in Palmer & Soltvedt as a couple of solid defensive midfielders, really turned it around. Also their experience was key in a team made up mainly of youngsters - Geary, Haslam, Stringer et al.

Over the years you've been watching Wednesday there have been signings of players that came just at the right time to make a really positive impact

Players who we signed who came to the club and immediately lifted the place and made a huge impact (no matter what position they played)

Who are the ones you remember?

Scott Carson, single handedly kept us in the league.

Michel Antonio just what we needed at the time and ultimately played a big part in getting us promoted.

Add to that I think someone at Sky wanted us promoted as we always seem to kick off before the United games which helped to heap more pressure on them because we just kept winning.

Agreed.

I reckon it’s the same person who keeps selecting us for Super 6

Di canio and Waddle.

Surprisingly not Waddle. It took him about 6 or 7 games if I remember correctly. There were some knobbers near me that constantly went fvvcking ballistic at him when he first joined. After about six games, his performances shut the silly fvvckers up.

Mark Pancho Pearson signed from Man Utd to replace injured John Fantham.

Saw him score twice (Layne 2 also) to draw 4-4 at Stoke after being 1-4 down with 20 mins to go!

I vaguely remember being at that game now you mention it. Doubt the goal times are accurate. 8 goals in the 90th minute. It wasn't the premier division either. League 1. We were good in those days.

Thanks for bringing back the memory.
