Breaking- Premier league re structure

Recommended Posts

Guest Hornsby

EPL and Parry are hell bent on destroying the fabric of football and tearing down communities and comradeship been built on love and tradition over centuries. Mental.

Not even beneficial in long run. Killing smaller clubs and Under 23 's etc will mean paying even more for rare and precious talent.

When you got Harry Maguire at £85 million already something badly wrong.

Like in Gemany, us fans really gotta organise and use our voting / political power to sort out structure of footy here.

All for progress but as you see with VAR, change for change sake can be really , really bad.  Nauseating.

I do not understand the focus on jealousy of the Big 6 / 9 in so many comments. Its not like we are in the Premier League and have any voting rights there  that we would be losing. We are in the second tier, maybe headed for a long stay in the third tier. The current economic structure of the Championship is impossible. This proposal offers some prayer of an actual rational economic structure to the EFL, and would probably offer the best chance of a level playing field that would permit a return. Whining about the evils of the big greedy kids seems not that productive. And probably that demand will be the first to go, because the rest of the PL wont accept it. 18 teams, no League cup both seem like trivial issues.

I sure am glad Neil took away the neg button.

Seriously; how do you think the future of the game will look if a few clubs who have already proved their callous selfishness and greed are given the power formally to wield this attitude across the league, essentially without the possibility of effective opposition?

they wont be killing smaller clubs totally, Rochdale Oldham, Tranmere etc will each have 20 players on loan from one of Liverpool, Man Utd and Man City and become feeder clubs under their total control, so they will be killing the heart of the club, although in theory they will still exist

Seriously, I expect that this part of the proposal will be removed.

Crikey! When you see it written out like that, it really rams home just what the Premier League has done to football in this country, doesn't it?

We've always had 'big' clubs who were expected to prevail more often than not, but it was at least realistic for other teams to challenge them and dream of success.

Barring the once-in-a-generation alignment of the stars which saw Leicester win the league (after spending sh*tloads and going into administration, of course), it's become a closed shop, hasn't it?

I don't see any way that football can ever return to what it was.

Exactly right.

I likened it to the rugby earlier and this is something else they brought in.

They call it twining teams up.

My old side batley is twinned with Huddersfield meaning they can have as many of their surplus /development players as they want on loan these days.

I'm not sure what happens if any of these twinned sides is able to get promotion. Would they allow them up, or as they did in the past, just find an excuse to disallow them.

Happened a few years back with hunslet,. They asked about the ground criteria and built a new ground (south leeds stadium) which matched guildines. They then gained promotion by finishing top....

Though it was the year wigan finished bottom... They couldn't /wouldn't relagate Wigan, so they just changed the ground criteria.

It used to be the big 5, with Everton part of it along with Liverpool, Man Utd and the North London clubs.

Now Everton have been edged out, and Man City and Chelsea get to dictate what happens to English football purely because they were the clubs chosen to be foreign billionaires playthings.

Exactly, if you don't have the money, you can't dictate or influence the decisions.

It is rotten to the core.

Any EFL club that agrees to this is an absolute moron.

Like Turkeys voting for Xmas.

They will be handing pretty much all the power to the top 6 - future TV deals, ownership of other clubs/rivals and so on.

Unfortunately, it's like the EPPP, a lot of smaller clubs thought it was a good thing as they will never be aiming to be a lower half prem team like us
