Football as a business is absolutely hateful - totally and utterly

And they will still push for government help at our expense pleading that they are important to the communities and have cultural importance. The simple fact that these PL clubs have furloughed employees and sacked mascots is disgraceful on its own without the continuance of the transfer spendageddon.

Aren't they already trying to put pressure on the government to allow fans into PL grounds regardless of safety in the name of their financial hardship?

This is what total unregulated capitalism looks like.  Makes me want to vomit.

Surely the hundreds of thousands of lower league fans will have their say

Unless their desperation for money makes them turn their eyes away.

The Govt should just close down football for 6 months - see who has the power then

If you’re an EFL owner and you vote for the proposals as they currently are then you are voting for a fox to guard the chicken coop. Within a few years the top clubs will want yet more money and will simply change the rules to suit them. The brass neck on the likes of Man City, who if not for a bloke from a country that flogs gays off tall buildings would probably be in the championship really is something.

Honestly if it wasn’t for Wednesday it would be so easy to walk away from this disgrace.

The whole charade is utterly distasteful.

Parry knows a number of EFL clubs are on the brink & has dangled the £250m carrot in their faces knowing it will ensure their existence & compliance with his plan.

The game I loved has become a nightmare.

Which is why they need to stick together.....I do worry that league two teams with little hope of getting to the premier League don't roll over for a few sheckles

Exactly.

It is ridiculous that Mansfield and Scunthorpe have the same say as Sheffield Wednesday and Derby County........ oh hold on a minute   lol

Not what I meant....I was talking about clubs voting for this due to their dire short term financial situation, not taking a longer term strategic view

One thing this proposal has magnified is that all teams have an equal vote on these issues

Rick Parry working from within to secure a deal that benefits the big clubs and was devised by the owners of Liverpool FC, who'd have though it. Fans aren't blind to him showing his true colours by offering this up as a positive revamp at a time when many EFL clubs have their backs to the wall and are desperate for the immediate cash hit.

It'll soon be one up, one down, no play-offs.

The ruling bodies of OUR beloved sport are all aimed at making money and not interested in the common supporter and it stinks to high heaven IMHO.

The premier league don’t want any promotion/relegation.

Their initial (rejected) offer to help Football League clubs recently was made with a condition that there would be no promotion/relegation.

They are desperate to close up shop.

It appears that the Glaser-Henry-Parry proposal is not popular with Owlstalkers.

There is very little engagement in the first 10 pages of the thread that 1) as an alternative, the status quo is a comically inadequate alternative;  2) the proposal permanently shares a lot of PL tv money with the EFL whilst eliminating parachute payments, which are good things; 3) the money, like it or not, belongs to the PL, and in practical terms to the top 6, which are the clubs the tv networks are willing to pay for. These clubs  are not going to share the money whilst indulging in some nostalgia of what the good old days were like before tv money, OR throwing money at the status quo.

The proposal offers a framework to restore some economic sanity to the Championship. Don’t like some specifics? Offer alternatives then, cause something like this deal might be the only one on offer.

And that is the problem. It is the only offer and stinks of a stitch up. Yes there are some sweeteners in there. But the league cup has been the only trophy that you have a chance of winning if you’re not in the big six. They see it as a distraction so happy to binit off. The real worry for me ( A’s is always the case when someone makes you a good offer) is what are the long term consequences? We are handing absolute power to six clubs. There would be nothing to stop them bringing in rules to say only the big six can qualify for the champions league. No relegation or promotion for five seasons. A one million pound maximum transfer fee between premier league and championship. You have to look where this could lead, and there would be absolutely nothing the rest of football could do.

I'm in awe of the blatant cheek of parry to try and sell this as good for the EFL. Immediately there are 2 EFL clubs who will be pushed out of the league structure to enable this yet its good for all 72 efl clubs?

From a long term perspective the big 6 take control and this then enables a situation where its easy to control and close shop if wanted. Why not add a veto to the voting rights for the other pl clubs and an efl representative? If the Premier league truly belive in the structure of the English game then the should interact with it.

I would like to see Parry reaction to this if proposed by Westham and Villa I suspect it would have been laughed at
