That one he'd turned down twice before and on one of those occasions in favour of managing his clubs arch rivals.

Irrelevant.

Completely different circumstances, Newcastle had just gone down when he opted to go to Sunderland who at the time had some very good players and were looking to kick on.

I get it, you don't like Chansiri but you can't deny getting Bruce was a fantastic capture for the club. Sadly Rafa leaving Newcastle was out of his control. Bruce probably saw it as his last chance, he won't get a shot at the Man United job, this is as big as it gets for him you'd imagine.

It was a fantastic appointment for the club and sadly Chansiri's only masterstroke under his ownership, the rest has been a complete disaster.

Can't blame he really for not joining the circus that is SWFC.

Plus he will get Forest promoted to the top flight within 3 years

Forest is just as much a circus,  he’ll have absolutely zero control over transfer policy and Marinakis rules with the iron fist everyone seems to think DC does

Id wage a fairly large amount of coin that Forest don’t get promoted anytime soon, Hughton or no Hughton

3 years? In a league where the average length of a managers job is 18 months.

Fantastic manager at this level. No doubt he will take Forest to the premier league if given time.

Such a shame we couldn't persuade him to come here. Really hope we did everything in our power to bring him in.

He is you're quite right, but when we did "offer/contact" him about the vacancy at SWFC, I'm hoping all we did is say "You wanna be manager" here's a 2/3 year contract, nothing more.

Why? Do you really think managing us is such an honour that we should only employ people who are desperate to do the job? It doesn't take a genius to work out why the likes of Monk and Rowett were so keen to come here.

If you want high quality you have to pull out all the stops. If there was a chance Hughton could have been persuaded to come here we should have given him whatever he wanted. Within reason of course.

Whats that honour thing you're on about.

The real quality guy had done a number on SWFC after pretty much bending over backwards for him, swfc then contacted/offered/put the feelers out to Hughton who was unemployed and offered/asked if he fancied it.

Guaranteed wages/income for the foreseeable 2/3 years, sometimes the job should be enough.

Just because we had a bad experience with Bruce that doesn't mean we should avoid trying to appoint good managers in the future.

Its the only way we will ever reach the premier league. Settling for mediocre managers just because they want the job and they aren't going to be poached isn't going to get us very far.

That is a fair point however, are there any fans at any club in the Championship that would give a manager 3 years?

Maybe not, but it’s not the fans who determine how long a manager has got is it ? -  otherwise  I suspect that Jos Lukuhay would have got the elbow earlier than he did.

Blimey. There's enough of a managerial merry-go-round as it is. Can you imagine what it would be like if the fans made the call? A new boss wouldn't even bother unpacking his suitcase.
