@owlstalk
Dunkley, one of six summer arrivals, has not played in a competitive match since last February because of a serious double leg break. He is likely to be pitched into the under-23s before making his senior bow. The next game for Lee Bullen's side is on October 20 - a potential date that Monk feels is doable. Speaking about Dunkley last week, Monk said: "Chey went to see a specialist for a regular check with his injury and he was delighted with it. "He has had pins removed which was always part of the process. "When you have been out for quite a long period, it is about making sure you build minutes in the right way. We want him back as quickly as we can but we have to do what is right by him. "We are probably looking at after the international break for him to kick on into training." Popular Post 0114
Got to say I thought he was a lot closer to fitness when we signed him than it appears to be. I like Dunkley as a player and you can see he’s a top guy. But should the club have been signing a player in our current predicament that’s not looking to be playing until a minimum of November?

No, they shouldn't.

Especially with an injury as serious as a double leg break, no one knows if he'll come back as good as he was, not even Dunkley.

Be fair its pretty easy to miss six pins, sticking twelve inches out of someone leg
BRADDO
A bizarre signing imo, given the nature of the injury and the predicament of the club.
agentwalker
i'm willing to bet that we don't see him complete a full 90 mins game for the first team this season.

I would rather us be cautious with him than rush him back like previous management teams have with injuries. I wouldn't be surprised if he's a little further along than being stated. He was definitely kicking a ball in training but I imagine no contact.

N0rtherner
Wtf, I had forgot about the leg break and thought he was just lacking fitness and now working his way back. Well done, Wednesday, I see we haven't stopped signing the medically crocked. Hopefully, Chey will be up and running shortly!

robowl4life
He’s had pins in his legs?! Pins!! Thought he was in light training tbh. Big risk taken by the club in our situation. Can’t see him playing for us properly before December earliest.

Imo we should never have been signing a player that was still out with a double leg break. Edited October 6, 2020 by WalthamOwl
Kew Owl
Unbelievable, Jeff ! We’ve a 12 point deficit to make up and it is essential that we get off to a flying start. We need people that can hit the round running, not someone who hasn’t played since mid February. As a previous poster has quite rightly said - a bizarre signing
Joe Sunburn
No need to rush nor worry. Team will be on positive points by then and climbing the table. If the recruitment dept. see s/t good in him, he’s worth the wait. Better to have him at full strength than on the bench. UTO.
