I would totally agree, There may be issues with Westwood but the way both Jos and Monk have handled the situation clearly shows they do not know how to handle big time players.  Monk and Jos both went for a strategy of getting young players or unknown players, I think its because they cant handle older players that will speak out about poor management decisions.

Mick McCarthy said today when discussing Derby as soon as the players start dictating about training or strategies in matches you've lost it and need to get rid...you know the McCarthy that everyone wanted on here

Which is why a manager like McCarthy and Bruce dictate things and are able to manage the older more opinionated players...  That is the sign of a good manager.

Bruce gave him the contract.

Chansiri probably trusted Bruce's footballing experience and opinion.

The week after Bruce bent the club over and walked out.

Club is stuck with him for another 2 years.

But at least we got, err, billions in compensation.

Compare his records to Jos and Monk...  When we played Westwood at the start of last season we got up to 3rd, we all know what happened after Christmas when Westwood was dropped.  Not saying that was all down to Westwood but Calamity Dawson as our number 1 does not fill me with confidence, hopefully he will come good but you just know he has a couple of mistakes a game in him.

Westwood was dropped for making some mistakes.

It was more than a couple of mistakes that got Westwood dropped in the first place. I think the loss of Fletcher had more of an influence than the loss of sponge bob, flannel hands.

Dawson has made loads more mistakes.... Yet he is still the number 1.

Dawson has played more games, so yes he will have made more mistakes.

If Westwood didn't have a dodgy shoulder and attitude he may well have won his place back and himself played more games. We'll never know.

He hasn't looked very past it at Newcastle doing their best since Keegan. Hate potato head but can't knock what he did here or at the pee pots.

Westwood's last game was in November, and our record from his 11 appearances leading up to that was W3 D3 L5. Immediately after he was dropped our record was W4 D2 L0.

Whatever led to the post Christmas collapse, there was much more to it than who our goalkeeper was.

Let's just post those stats again mate for all those claiming Westwood was the answer to all our problems...
