Popular Post Lord Snooty
"Good news, Sir. I managed to contact Mr Hargreaves" "Oh yes, have trouble did you?" "Yes, Sir he's in Spain." "I thought we were skint" "He's there working, Sir" "A likely tale" "Well, the good news is, I mentioned your concerns about the wooden set we've been left to work in and he held his hands up to it and said that he's working on something as we speak" "Buying the house back is he?" "Well, not as such. He's spent over £100 on a bar snack and a pint" "Are you sure he's in Spain?" "Yes, Sir. From what I can gather he's the only one there. He's propping up the entire Spanish tourist industry. Hence the hike on his bar bill" "Well, that's very public spirited of him. So when do we get the house back?" "He assures me he's working on something ,Sir. He apologises for the delay but he's working on site improvements that will encompass our own situation in the Matchday Thread. He says we'll be delighted with the step up into the modern age" "Last time he said that we lost the negs!" "I think we have to have some faith,Sir. Ahh, he we go..." "Stubbs. Why are the clouds Square?" "Sir, I....he did say it might take a while until.." "Why are you square Stubbs? Good God Stubbs, why are you square! Your head looks like a cardboard box. Wait, what do I look like? Show me. Show me! Pass me a mirror!" "Sir, I-" "Mirror!........ Man alive! I look like Shefki Kuqi made from Lego." "Well, you never did like your weak chin." "Weak chin! I'll give you weak chin, I'll throttle you, and Hargreaves!" "You'll have a job, Sir, I've got no neck and you've got no fingers" "I'll kill him!" "We'll all kill each other if we don't start wearing masks and adhering to the social distancing measures and guidelines designed by health experts and scientists." "Really?" "Yes, Sir. We risk totally undoing all the good work and effort we've put in as a nation over the previous months in keeping this terrible infection at bay, protecting the most vulnerable and avoiding overwhelming the NHS care system at Winter, it's busiest time of year if we become slack now." "It's a fair point Stubbs, and I'm glad you managed to weave this important social message into the matchday thread" "Thank you,Sir." "Do you think at some stage this season we might be able to weave some football into the Matchday thread?" "One step at a time eh,Sir. One, 2-metres-apart , step at a time." Bristol City - V - Wednesday Championship Sunday 27th September, 2020 Kick Off: 13:00 Ashton Gate ************ THE TEAM NEWS Bristol have Joe Williams back in contention after stepping up his recovery from injury, but it will likely have to remain patient as he waits for his Bristol City debut. Former Derby man Chris Martin will lead the attack line partnered by Nahki Wells but will be without skipper Tomas Kalas who is facing an extended spell on the sidelines with a shoulder problem and partner Nathan Baker. Injuries which have seen City under new manager Dean Holden switch to a 3-5-2 Owls Old boy Jack Hunt will play in the right wing back spot. BRISTOL CITY Predicted line-up (3-5-2): Bentley Moore Vyner Mawson Hunt Patersen Weimann Bakinson Rowe Martin Wells ************ Wednesday Boss Garry Monk is unlikely to change his 'League Side' too much having so far picked up 4 points with an excellent win over Cardiff and a creditable draw against Watford. The one possible change would be the inclusion of wing back Moses Odubajo who was man of the match in Wednesdays midweek defeat to Fulham. Youngster Alex Hunt has recovered from injury and will likely make the bench. Popular Post nevthelodgemoorowl
It was 8th December 1990 our big season. We were living in London so I treat me and the three boys to a trip to Ashton gate. It was cold and and persistent sleet in central London. As we left Marylebone Station the sleet turned to snow and as we approached Oxford the train came to a halt with about four inch of snow on the track side. \there came an announcement from the guard "Sorry for the delay, this snow is particularly slippy" Well it would be and we were worried. Never mind we got going again and by the time we made Bristol there were just bits of slush around. Very few Owls, a wine merchant lead a bunch of London Owls who we had spoken to but other than that just a few privateers who had braved the weather. They informed us how bad it was down the spine of the country as far as Oxfordshire. We saw all the goals before half time just the two in a 1-1 draw. Little Frank from Swinton arrived with about 20 minutes remaining. He had arrived at Hillsborough to discover no coaches were running. Dropped the car off back at Swinton, Taxi down to Rotherham, Train to Doncaster, then connection to Kings Cross then Marylebone to Bristol but well out of time the poor bugger arriving with 20 minutes left which he wasted telling me the harrowing tale. And for all that inconvenience I hope they win tomorrow for little Frank ! FOR LITTLE FRANK FROM SWINTON WAWAW UTO ! airborne_rat_of_s6
Hope we ply ourselves as we did away to Cardiff. Need to treat every match as if it were our last and go out with the intent of winning at all costs. Three points today would represent a good return for the first three difficult matches this season. Be great to keep chipping away and get into positive points soon. Plenty of teams who haven't started well who we can potentially catch, provided we keep grinding out results. Early doors, but it is looking already like a typical Championship league; couple of strong teams and a lot of mediocrity. Let's do it; let's see a continuation of positivity and solid play. Lincs Owl
Wonder if they hate being called Bristol as much as we hate being called Sheffield.
VictoryBell
Oh, brilliant, Snoots. Love the cartoon and the way you got the Ministry of Truth message in! Never been to Ashton Gate - not even been to Bristol, TBH. Is it a lucky ground for us or not?

Paul..
I assumed the game was moved to be televised but there's nothing showing that it's televised so why was it moved? Confusing.

striker
Two evenly matched teams. Don't expect any changes from Watford. Both lost midweek, but if there is a good loss, ours was our reserve team whereby they included some first teamers and was more comprehensive. However, yet another away game for us, our 5th of the season already out of 6 games, travelling bound to take a toll. On the basis we've had the better of them in recent fixtures, hope for a another win 1-2 Wednesday.

WalthamOwl
Brilliant OP as always. Tough game today, got some useful players have Bristol City. Think I would be happy with a point today. A win obviously would be amazing. As long as we don’t lose, we need to be making up those points ASAP. Come on Wednesday!!
latemodelchild
Nobody really expected us to beat Cardiff and we did. Most people expected us to lose to Watford and we didn't. Therefore it's concerning to see some of our fans talking about getting a 'dub' today, as the youth parlance would have it. Personally I'm assuming we'll lose comprehensively, probably losing a few players on the way thus catapulting us into a maelstrom of disaster and hurt culminating in our eventual relegation where we look back at this match as the starting point. That should even it out a bit and give us a punchers chance at least. You're welcome.
