Fulham -V- Wednesday (League Cup) OMDT

Recommended Posts

Did Reach use the wrong hand signal on that free-kick or something... It was a wonderful ball put into a great position but no one seemed interested to run into the single area everyone should have expected it to go.

Very odd.

Amount of times we drop off the pace in the second half.

We've got to find a balance between a high energy, high tempo pressing game in the first half with the ability to see the game out.

If we do start all guns blazing we have to take the chances we create.

In our set-up he’s a LWB.

But he isn't is he? I mean, thats not where you play him with a choice. But I'm not sure, if I did have complete choice I.e. put him in a perfect team to compliment him, where I would play him...

Good experience for the youngsters. Shaw the pick for me. They went with a very strong side. League is definitely the main priority for us.

Just wondering if Borner has any studs on his boots, the amount of times he has slipped over?!

The ref is being his usual inept self.

Move on to the weekend....

Shaw has been fantastic tonight, and Brennan and odubajo haveplayed very well.

Sadly, Borner has been a complete car crash, shocking. Dele has been very poor and needs to improve massively. Reach has been really poor and doesn't have an ounce of courage in him. Palmer seemed to be sulking all game?

Some positives and some negatives.

When you’ve got a team of youngsters you need the senior pros like Palmer, Borner & Reach to set an example. Unfortunately they’ve all been gash.

FT reflections

Not a bad night all things considered

Palmer and Börner absolutely abysmal

Odubajo moves ahead of Penney in the LWB pecking order for me (much as a prefer left footers on the left)

Why the hell are we playing Reach upfront?

Shaw the pick of the young guns. Waldock faded badly after a good start, Brennan much better in second half

Kachunga did. himself no favours either

Id play him LWB every game.

Way better than any other candidate on our books.

Not at all. I'm liking what I'm seeing, but we just don't have the legs or depth of squad to keep it going all game, especially with the youngsters.

That said we have left a number of senior players at home.

Maybe but just as competitive and more physical

I know it's en vogue to bash modern football, but if it were truly possible to play 3 games at the highest level in 8 days, don't you think a top team would have figured out how and bene blitzing the world by doing it?  Humans aren't robots.  Lactic acid doesn't just vanish in minutes.  It doesn't matter how fit you are, recovery is one of the most important parts of any athlete's training.
