Lazy ... wasn’t he ..slow ...wasn’t he ... same ‘tricks’ ...

...then he dumped them on their collective arses time after time and made it look ********’ effortless. The quality of a true genius in any business.

Best after Di Canio, Hirst, Petrescu, Nilsson and Hugh Dowd.

Also in my experience a very kind and humble man.

You can often find him on the beach with Binoculars jumping up and down shaking his fist at the sea apparently.

Fantastic player never seemed an effort to him very much like Hugh Dowd in that regard.

I can remember my dad moaning when he signed. Said he was coming for a retirement payday

:duntmatter:

I said exactly the same about him,  and when we signed Francis but wow what fantastic players.  Never seen a better crosser of a ball than Francis could put the ball on a sixpence.

Trevor Francis as a player was such a quite incredible thing - wasn't he like 38 years old or something?

(as a manager he singlehandedly ruined Sheffield Wednesday but that's for another thread)

If we tried to convert it to today's players and money, who would be of similar standing/ability and how much would he cost?

Not sure how old he was when he retired playing but would love to see players of his quality again at the club

Gareth Bale

That's crazy...even if we were in the prem we couldn't even dream of signing a player like that.

Just makes you realise how much of a coup it was back then.
