DJMortimer
The signing of Terry Curran was quite a coup at the time and he certainly lived up to that reputation. 2

Shot down in flames.
James Quinn in 2005, came from somewhere in Holland, just remember the rest of the team not being clever enough to get on to anything he did, I think we were in Div 3 at the time. He didn’t come to much after leaving Hillsborough though
alanharper
Jordan Rhodes, he'd score 90 a season if only we were good enough to play to his strengths and set him up with loads of open goals every game.

Wolter
Darko Kovačević. Actually wasn't that great for us but ended up at Juventus. Strange one.

CalmJimmers
Maybe a bit controversial, but Royston Drenthe. He was a class above anything we had, can tell why he played at the highest level. Got the feeling he just didn't apply himself as much as he could. Anthony Gardener was class, just injuries took a massive toll on him, one of my favourite players from recent years. This'd be a lot easier if we said those that waint good enough for us.

Yes there have been a number of players too good to play for us over the years Not too good to play for Sheffield Wednesday but in terms of ability too good compared to the rest of the squad at that time There is a difference
vulva
Trevor Francis. Dread to think how good he was in his pomp. 3

Iain Turner That's him - he was quality, then he went back to Everton and rotted and then did nothing, shame really. Should've built a career in the lower leagues and then gone back up. Joao has it in abundance.. was he too good for us no. non of the players mentioned bar Di Canio went onto better things.. that says it all. Nero
I remember one game where Di Canio and Carbone were playing either side of Andy Booth. I dont know if they were too good for us but they were too good for him. After about 20 minutes of the ball going to Booth and not coming back their arms were waving like windmills, Paulo was moaning 'WHY.... WHY?' at the bench. Shaking his head and then he didn't pass another ball all game.
Lee A
Kieran Lee, definitely a premier league player before the injuries. Fortunately neither he nor anyone else in the game ever noticed.
