IWEDFM
Kenwyne Jones - A relative unknown when we signed him but 7 goals in 7 matches at League One level proved he was far too good for where we were at the time Madjid Bougherra - A rock at the back and those darting runs into the opposition half were exceptional. I was gutted when he was sold Ross Barkley - He was tipped to be the new Lampard/Gerrard so was something of a surprise when we signed him on loan. Showed glimpses of his potential but was much younger back then. Still chipped in with 4 or 5 goals if my memory is correct Scott Carson - He was superb during a loan spell, a class above. Much younger back then and was considered a future England International Can anyone think of any others?

I found it strange at the time that none of the big clubs came in for him, unless they did and I can't remember 1
Guest
Glenn Whelan - stuck playing with players playing above their level in the centre, the likes of Kenny Lunt, Yoann Folly, Craig Rocastle. But kept us competitive, used to be our creative, box to box, and defensive midfielder all in one I thought. Emilianenko
According to a poster on here Alessio DaCruz was too good for us. We weren’t on his wavelength.

Inspector Lestrade
Di Canio was playing in a team which was on the slide Dan Petrescu went on to much greater things with Chelsea and international football.

As good as Whelan was for us i'm not sure if he'd make the list to be honest

IWEDFM
Anyone remember Mikkel Bischoff? We signed him on loan from Man City and really stood out. Only played a handful of matches from what I can remember but looked a very good player
HighworthOwl
Gardner and Kirkland would have played there entire career at the top level had it not been for injuries.
