The Humble Club - Abhorrence Of Arabia

Tufty's a great manager, but a manager's only as good as his players.

On the way up, he could use his knowledge of the lower leagues to great effect.

Unearthing British diamonds was his thing.

But at this level only the very top clubs can afford British, and Tufty doesn't trust foreigners.

Without them, no club of United's size can survive in the PL.

The Blades give sh*t a bad name.

His job is to assemble a team to reach an objective.

His recruitment has been atrocious.

He’s responsible for that, regardless of any spin you put on it. They’ve spent £50m+ this year and have nothing to show for it.

Teams have figured them out. He hasn’t adjusted. I’d argue he’s getting to the point where he’s got 3 games to save his job. They’re lucky that nobody has put any distance between themselves and, the bottom 3 yet.

I keep seeing people mention that there’s 3 worse teams than them. Is there? They’re well up there with the worst I’ve seen this season. Let’s no forget the solitary point they do have, was more down to luck than anything else.

You've spent years verbally noshing him off.

He's a good manager who has done a very good job with them, but that's the extent of it.

This is not some elite level coach we are talking about.

In fact, the rumour is, he is more the motivation and Knill is the brains behind the operation.

United were beaten by a much better team this evening, and to date they have played some of the most difficult fixtures in the division.

That 4-1 scoreline is probably a fair reflection of the two squads, and even if United stay in the PL indefinitely they can expect beatings in those type of games...unless an Abramovich or a Mansour moves in.

That's the reality of the PL, namely that the likes of United are just there to provide opposition for that handful of clubs who're competing for the title.

No matter how good a manager you are, opponents suss you out.

Opponents have sussed the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and City out - but they don't have players good enough to do anything about it.

Wilder's way of playing is based on teamwork, endeavour and the like.

That requires a very definite type of player, and he's unsure about foreigners.

As I said earlier, buying foreigners is the only hope for a club of United's size.

British diamonds will conceivably get you to the PL, but thereafter you've got to go continental.

The solution for them (and us) is to have a powerful scouting network abroad, so they/we can sign foreigners with confidence.

Wilder may not be absolutely tip, top of the tree in European football, but he's still far better than anyone we've had.

Had we had a Wilder, we'd be in the PL now, and we'd all have a lot more money in our pockets to boot.

I hope West Ham have Antonio back for when they play em.

Playing Sunday with all others around bottom playing Saturday they could be more adrift which could mean more pressure on players to win.

It'll be an interesting super Sunday.
