Cardiff - V - Wednesday

Recommended Posts

A great away performance for me. Coaching staff and players should be proud of that. A gritty and hard to beat mentality and you can just tell they're really up for this challenge.

Early doors but I'm confident for this season.

Well done lads

Good, against a physical side he handled it fine.  And can pass the ball too.

Not really tested against any pace today but not his fault.  Would keep him in the team for a bit

Good to hear. Really hope he can become a solid player for us. He has age on his side.

Great result, that - was hoping for a point but expecting a loss. Really good away performance and great to see both Windass and Rhodes on the scoresheet on the first day of the season. A long way to go but I couldn't have asked for more and was expecting a lot less.

Excellent stuff.

How did Van Aken play?

Had a steady game. Didnt get out of position and struggle to get back, like Borner has in too many games recently. Nothing too fancy or over the top, just steady, solid and against Cardiff at their place, a really good result. One Swallow doesn't make a summer and all that, but the signs of a very solid team were there today. Dawson looked more commanding of his area and full of confidence. Tom in the middle looking back to his battling best, Van Acken and Iorfa both solid either side. The midfield were tight out of possession, fluid and threatening, in possession and we had a good mix of movement, guile and accuracy from , Windass, Rhodes and Kachunga, when he came on. Lots of goods signs there. Just got to do that every week and we are in for an entertaining season.

Always makes a difference to the keeper’s level of confidence when he has a solid defence in front of him as he had today.

Can never remember if it's mustard or custard with humble pie, but a decent slice for me tonight. Good stuff.

It is 37 years now since we won in South Wales on the first day of the season, and went on to get promoted to end our longest period away from the top flight.

Will history repeat itself?

Errr, no. All the same, terrific start.

If we did somehow overturn the odds and get promoted then I would remortgage my house, charter a light aircraft and fly it around the EFL HQ with a banner behind. No decided on F off from the Wednesday or such a fart out of our arse’s Parry.
