Points deduction - peoples thoughts

Having the deduction at the beginning of the year means we know what we are up against and can fight to overcome it. Think of the uproar if we got automatic promotion and then the imposition of a deduction at the end of the season meant we didn't even make the play offs.

i see your point, but i don't imagine we'll be too bothered about the league denying us 'automatic promotion' for a while.

what did they do him on, hand held camera?, fixed camera?

with speeds 1mph over the limit i imagine a good solicitor would cut them to ribbons over the calibration on that day.

Police van , on a bridge , southbound A1 just outside Wetherby I think.
Accepted his medicine.

I wish that we - fans and club - could accept we’ve transgressed the rules and move on.

Yes, the EFL are clearly disorganised, but DC and his advisors f’d up. Let’s get on with it, move away from this train of thought that the club are treated unfairly.

Thought I'd start a topic just to see what peoples thoughts are on points deductions.

Not the ins and outs of the rules etc. Facts are we have a -12 deduction

I was pondering more on whether as a system it would be more beneficial to impose the rules whereby the deduction was given at the end of the season, not beginning (regardless of club)

Would it make a difference? Mentally for the players? Realistically for the competition as a whole starting on a flat 0 points across the board? The type of player that could be recruited? The tactics the coach would employ? Make it different aiming for rather than clearing arrears?

Not looking for an argument just looking for peoples thoughts I know we can't change the rules or what happened so possibly a pointless discussion but still I'd be interested in knowing other peoples viewpoints

Clear to me EFL want to make an example of us. Just look at the fixtures away opening day and last day only one home game in first five, only three in first nine and five in first 14. They are really trying to stack the odds against us early on. Time to close ranks and dig in fizz the EFL and that guy Parry.

we should fight every inch of the way, with everything we have.

it's an extremely old fashioned working class attitude to 'take the medicine' offered out by your so called betters, f**** that for a lark, you fight it, and fight it again.

i figure your mate was done in a 50 area, as they would struggle to make 71 mph stick.

on a non digital speedo that would be way less than the needle width.

plus anyone expected to keep an eye on 1 mph would never be looking at the road, also i'm not sure how accurate a cruise control set at 69.mph would be.

A siege mentality is required in every single game.  Does this squad have the characters though?

Also, I don't buy Monk's nonsense about the pressure being off, it's actually the exact opposite. Relegation would be a disaster.

I've not really thought it through but have always felt that to hit clubs with a points deduction hurts the fans more than anyone else and they have done nothing wrong. Fans season tickets have get devalued and clubs are now entering a competition they can't realistically win so fans no longer have that expectation.

It also devalues the competition in the league itself.

Must be a better way of doing it.

Agree that it’s the fans who suffer most

Overspending but not being promoted  = transfer embargo’s and points deductions

Overspending but being promoted (Wolves, Bournemouth, Villa) = f*** all punishment

Basically like getting sent down for attempted murder but getting let off for actual murder with a few hundred million In your back pocket

You can waste your time putting up a fight for something the club is guilty of.

Yes, I am working class, but that has nothing to do with having a mindset that tells me to move forward and not look back.

My mate was done for breaking the national speed limit on a dual carriageway - 70mph. If he gets done again I’ll tell him to get in touch with you.

i remember back in the early 70's heading home late at night from playing cricket in sheffield, i was a teenager in the car with 3 adults, and as was the norm we'd all had plenty to drink.

5/6 pints and driving was the norm, if your drove on the wrong side of the road, you missed all the drunks coming the other way.

we were stopped by an ordinary police car on penistone road, who informed us we were speeding, the bloke riding shotgun for us worked for the police as a crime photographer, and said to the copper 'is the speedo in your escort calibrated?, if so when was it last done?' the officer said nothing, and left.

he doesn't need to get in touch with me, he needs to get in touch with a competent solicitor.

'moving forward' may well be moving forward after getting it overturned, you may wish to admit it, i hope the club doesn't and fights it every inch of the way.

I agree the club is guilty of breaching the rules, but imo the rules are completely ridiculous so I have no problem with the club appealing

The EFL may say that these rules are there to protect clubs and fans but they didn’t seem too bothered about the Wednesday fans when they were trying to relegate us last season did they? What have we done wrong? What have the Bolton, Wigan and Bury fans done wrong?

Until parachute payments are scrapped then there will always be owners like DC who overspend in an attempt to bridge the ridiculous gap that they create

Easier solution, for all, stick to the rules. Legal representation won’t be required.

hear, hear,

the parachute (failure reward) payments make 'the championship' a handicap race, not an even one, does something akin apply to either of the other two divisions under league rules?

if we are relegated this year will we be given £130m to outspend the unfortunates in L1?

but the authorities don't always stick to the rules, yet more 'i know my place' thinking.

legal representation can be very rewarding.

Last time I got done for speeding I went on a speed awareness course and the instructor said there was an allowance of 10% of the speed limit plus 2 mph. I was doing 58 in a 50 limit. 1 mph less and I would have been ok. That was about 7 or 8 years ago so maybe rules have changed in the meantime, but if not your mate must have been in a 50 or 60 mph restricted area without realising.

Blimey, I’m working class, I know my place.
So judgemental.

By your comments you are above working class and rules don’t apply to you

It must be so nice up there on your perch, looking down on the masses.

We’ve no one to blame but ourselves. The elf didn’t put a gun to our head and tell us to backdate the sale of our home a year from the actual date, did they? We’re in sh#t street with no ground and the worst squad in yonks with -12. with nobody else to blame but ourselves. Well done DC.

no i'm working class too, but a fair bit sharper than the 'i know my place' brigade.

so that's another time that you're wrong, i can see a pattern forming.
