All this talk of can we afford wages etc...(Murphy)

we have lost 13 players and signed 5. Surely saved loads in wages.

looking at rough guestimates/reported wages...

Fletch 35k

Fessi 30k

Fox 8k

Lee 10k

Dave 10k

Hutch 20k

DaCruz 6k

Wickham 20k

Murphy 10k

Winnall 18k

Jones 4k

Windass 8k (obv got him back)

Bates 4k

193k a week saved

I don’t think 5 new players be on massive wages.
that’s a huuuuuuuge  saving of ‘champagne’ players.

surely room for Murphy on 25k if he’d accept it.
or maybe we don’t want pay that sort of wage anymore.
Spread 3m over 4 yr if poss.
Time will tell.

It’s money we didn’t have that we have ‘saved’..in reality we are just not losing as much every month..it’s hardly money we now have available to spaff on some more big contracts

This. Didn't we just have to sell the stadium and got a points deduction because our spending was out of control (or at least against the rules)? We may be closer to a position of being able to avoid that now.

So instead of losing £20-25m a season we will be only losing £10-15m a season.

We are maxing out the losses because of the lack of other income, that none fan income, player sales - none of them as they all left on frees, advertising - none of that DC scared them all off.

We don't have anything to bring players in and clearly DC is wanting to do it on the cheap, while charging us £40 a game to watch it.

If we pay Murphy £25k then some other player would think he was worth that and the wage bill starts to spiral and players refuse to get on the bus ,oh wait FF has left.

Indeed FF is gone and we now have Harris and Reach maybe we let the wrong left winger(s) leave.

Fessi playing 46 games in a season would score double figures and assist as many, I am going to hazard a guess we won't get that from Reach and Harris.

FF playing 46 games in a season?

That would be a first.

It might take time but at least by having younger players we have the chance of making a profit by selling players on, that might also encourage Premier sides to Loan us young talent

Can afford to pay season ticket monies back then.

Cutting our cloth.

The bloated squad we had on luxury wages have drained the club.

Absolutely this. It’s called living within the constraints imposed by the EFL.

We all know they’re unfair in that they favour the relegated clubs but it’s the only way to avoid further embargoes and points deductions.

Being pedantic we do have the money, but unlike the Premiership failures, we arent allowed to spend it.

I think it’s the opposite of that now and DC doesn’t want to spend. Given the stadium sale has effectively been moved from 2017-18 to 2018-19, we should now be showing a profit for 2018-19 in the accounts. I’m not sure how much we lost in 2019-20, but it should be way lower than prior seasons. We received a reported £9m for Joao and Bruce, and we cut 100k+ off the wage bill when we released Hooper, Boyd, Jones, Abdi, Matias and Pudil.

So 2019-20 should be a vastly reduced loss and 2018-19 was a profit. Should leave loads of wriggle room to still lose £39m over 3 years if we spend in 2020-21.

Just don’t think Chansiri wants to though
