Genuine question .. why do you think we don’t have the money to buy anyone at that price?

The £20-£40 million losses we have consistently made over the last 4 years, -12 points deduction from messing up a ground sale to try and cover some of those losses, £200k+ weekly wage bill we still have for a squad with no saleable assets, lack of income due to covid.

I understand all that has happened however there is no clarity as from the day of the decision As to whether DC or the club can now spend. So going forward ( taking into consideration the wages we are now not paying for FF etc) can we not spend a little to progress the squad ?
or are we not allowed to spend?

So apart from the having no saleable assets and no income it’s all good to go...

So in our system we should splash out 3 million on a (makeshift) RWB?

I'd rather we splashed out 3 million on a striker.

Stoke are really starting to annoy me.

According to a table I saw they had the biggest wage bill in the championship last season at just over 90 million. Guess they must have trimmed that for this season.

As usual it was in a paper so don’t know the accuracy.

Obviously we have cut down massively but I don’t think people realise just how much we have spent over the last few years. Even now you are talking nearly £100k per week just on KW,Rhodes and lees. I can’t imagine there will be any kind of statement from DC as I’m pretty sure we weren’t aware of being in an embargo last time until we were months into it?

We paid a minimum fee for windass and apparently bid £1m for leko but I can’t see us spending much on transfer fees, especially for established players with high wages as well.

Go for it Mr C, a bargain and twice the player of the likes of Rhodes and Reach, offload them to help fund Murphy.

3 million for Murphy has got Championship-team-with-parachute-payments-aplenty written all over it, sadly.

Without doubt 3 million would be excellent value, but I doubt that that kind of money is available, and even if it were, we ought really to be looking at strikers first and foremost.

Still, if we're playing 3-5-2, quality from the wide areas is important and Murphy proved since the new year that he would fit the bill perfectly.

Depends if we can stretch it over a couple of years or something, and whether P&S will allow us to bring in Murphy, plus a couple of strikers and a couple of loanees? If we can, then go for it, as long as we can bring in at least one striker, as well. Murphy was one of our best players last season.

He was our main threat and suited us last season. He's adaptable, he looked just as good in a attacking wing back role, has he does on the wing or in the attacking wide roles of a front three. In my opinion it was important during this window to bring back Murphy or if we can't to bring in someone similar who could be just as effective for us.

Yep; I'd be amazed if Norwich didn't fancy taking back at that price.

Isn't that pretty standard for transfer fees anyway?

Indeed and it has been such a great success - he is the only striker at the club and now there are midfielders preferred for his position.

Seriously, how bad can it get?

GM trying to convince us all that Adam Reach is best placed upfront. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.

Can we do a deal with Newcastle?

£300,000 and next time they want one of our managers, we’ll just let it happen.

give them Monk please

I don’t think Newcastle would let him go for £3m. How often do players get advertised with a known selling price? Can’t remember that ever happening.

It is reported in a local newspaper, and we all believe everything we read in local newspapers, don’t we?

Dejphon Chansiri told fans that if prices remained high, we would see continued investment in the first team squad at the levels we’d seen when he arrived.

The fans have kept their side of the bargain and continued to pay these ridiculously high prices, now’s the time for him to keep his.

When you look at some of the fees clubs in the Championship are paying for players, £3m for Jacob Murphy is good value.

Did you believe him? If we want to only get 12 points deducted we cant spend anywhere near the amount he did when he took over.

Actually, that's not accurate (sorry to be pedantic). We can spend just as much. The trick is to stop treating the club like a "family" (us fans are the cousins that get treated appallingly btw) and start running it as a football club and chuffing sell players when you can raise revenue and identify appropriate replacements. Something that in five years DC has succeeded doing once (Lucas Joao)
