FOR SALE - Jacob Murphy - £3M - APPLY WITHIN

Recommended Posts

Fee and wages we can hardly afford for great player, but one that we would have to play out of position and while we have much more pressing issues at the club.

Would it be wrong to say any money we do have should be spent on a new striker?

He scored 9 goals last season after he finally settled in.

He'd be a great signing at that price; unfortunately, I doubt we can pay it.

It makes the £3m we wasted on Abdi all the more frustrating, doesn't it?

We could structure the deal over 3 or 4 seasons if Newcastle would accept or with clauses.

I suppose.

Nothing that's happened or been leaked over the summer suggests we have £3m to spend on one player, but I suppose the club might have been keeping their cards close to their chest.

We bid £1 mill for Leko. So there is still that money to spend.

Yeah, but there's quite a jump from £1m to £3m.

I imagine (hope) that money has been earmarked for a striker, but who knows?

You can post it as many times as you like, doesn't for a minute make it more believable.

We are operating under a soft embargo. We will have been instructed what our transfer fee level is and what we are allowed to pay in wages for any new signings, permanent or loan.

Look at who we've brought in and try disagree.

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru      Manchester City        Undisclosed

Chey Dunkley                Wigan Athletic           Free transfer

Elias Kachunga             Huddersfield Town     Free transfer

Josh Windass                Wigan Athletic           Undisclosed

Max weekly wage < £7.5k?

Max transfer fee < £0.5m

What about Izzy?

Genuine question .. why do you think we don’t have the money to buy anyone at that price?

Until Wednesday begin to generate some transfer fee income then fees of £3m, 4 year contracts and competitive wages are near impossible unless they break the rules again. Wednesday need to identify next seasons Murphy that can come into S6 without the big fee, without the long term commitment and with subsidised wages from his PL club.

Swap him for Forestieri

Don't think we have FF any more mate. Bout as much chance of us offering Ronaldo for him

Thats a very fair price for Murphy, given his impact for us last season and the fact he's still at an age where he could get better.

However, given we still need to add the most important piece to the jigsaw (a striker), which'll no doubt cost a similar amount of money, I can't see how the club could justify paying that.

Unless, the club has some aces up their sleeves regarding the striker target, or indeed, a larger budget than we are been led to believe.

In isolation, £3m for Murphy is a snip. But the maths just don't add up when you consider the additions we still require.

Sadly for us we rarely sell, so a £3 million outlay is exactly that for FFP. We sign players, let them run down their contracts and leave for nothing. Scandalous way to run the run the club, and that's the reason we can't afford him.

Will be a great signing for another club though at that price. No brainer.

As far as I'm aware, we're still sailing close to the wind in terms of P&S...

Hopefully there's some leeway and we can make a deal like this happen, though.

no brainier. Adds goals to the side, keep up last seasons form and he’s worth much more too.

him and a striker and I’ll start to believe. I’ve been let down for the past twenty years but I’m a sucker for punishment
