Absolutely. The reaction to this signing has surprised me even by the usual standards of OT.

Be a good job when they are back at school

Be interesting how him, Windass and Brown will fit into this team. None of these are strikers.

yes they all strike me as a similar type of player. Not a midfielder but not a striker. We need some strikers.

I think people are just a bit disappointed because myself and a good few others on here live in a world of total misery where we can’t ever be a tiny bit positive or optimistic about the team we supposedly love.

Steve Maclean 2008-09 season, 21 goals.

Ok mr pedantic call it eleven.

But let's be honest, they don't grow on trees.

Not sure he’s quite a striker. 30 appearances last season were from RW compared to 3 as a striker.

Happy with the signing though, he was outstanding for Huddersfield in 16/17 when playing RW and scored 12 goals.

Tbf forestieri and reach were good in 16/17 it's 2020 now

Ok statto.

But point still stands, they are a bit of a mithical thing. Really these days it should be a 15 goal a season man.

I think the -12 has people worried and the form of the second half of last season have people worried.

Dunkley

Brown

Kachunga

Widnass

All solid championship signings. Without the -12 I'd expect this squad with a couple of more additions to easily be midtable.

It's pure narcicissm
I was listening to Five Live yesterday and there was an expert on discussing why people do things like that

It's purely a narcissistic exercise to make themselves feel better by projecting an image that they know more than anyone else on the subject
By putting themselves forward as an expert they get an intoxicating rush, and this gets addictive to the point where they'll post anything just to appear the expert again
That was one reason. The other reason is that they're just scared of something and unhappy with their own lives

That may be the expert's prognosis (& probably correct) but sure as hell continues to damage us & our prospects.

Any of these player's that 'fan's' automatically don't rate are automatically put under more pressure from day one and are forced to perform above average just to stand still & get grudging acceptance.

People say they are overpaid & therefore should be able to live with the criticism or probably don't read it anyway, but it has been proved numerous times that it does ACTUAL damage.

Think Morgan Fox who we could have desperately done with right now. Nuhui endured it during all his tenure here & what did it achieve? Nothing except a fracture between fans & players.

Our supporter's get all defensive & precious when criticised and are almost like a protected species if any criticism comes their way.

You read the negative comments on here regarding a new signing who hasn't kicked a ball in anger yet & are forced to question whether they are more in it for their own ego's which is basically what your article was saying, or the good of the club in a very difficult situation.

Another one citing the influence of the coaching staff in him joining. Shows how ridiculous the situation was last season.

How is poster after poster claiming he looks a great signing (despite 4 goals in 75 games) any less narcissistic, then somebody claiming they don't like the thoughts of him signing because of the very same stats?

It is still somebody expressing their opinion, whether people agree with it or not.

Forum's are by design narcissistic, it is how they work, for people to spout their opinions, for others to digest and respond to.

It makes me laugh.  The same folk who point to our smelly neighbours and their King Pig as a shining light example, complain about us wasting money on expensive hasbeens on long contracts yet would have been in absolute total meltdown at some of those he signed and turned around in the past few seasons.

Free transfer, one year deal, proven at this level,  good relationship with another new recruit on loan from a top Premier League club but yes, MOAN, MOAN, MOAN fuckingMOAN!!!!!

I’ll be honest I’ve never really rated him but beggars can’t be choosers and we most certainly are beggars.

I’m starting to think our season is going to hinge on Jordan Rhodes rediscovering his goal scoring touch which doesn’t bode well.
