The same as any other athletics event.

He wasn’t just racing himself.

You’ve got the same number of rungs as any other athletics event. Same number of eligible competing countries at the Olympics and IAAF world championships.

No not what I mean....football is the most popular sport in the world, if you are the best footballer you have to be better than such an awful lot of people, as nearly everyone gives it a go at some point.

For 400 metre hurdles these are firstly people that have picked athletics-not be be harsh but if they were good at more lucrative team sports they wouldn't be playing those.

Then 400m hurdles a way down the pecking order in terms of popular events, all the fastest are doing 100 + 200m, those with speed endurance do the 400m, the ones that are quick but not quick enough go into the hurdling events.

How can you compare a 400m hurdler to a footballer?

You can’t because a footballer wouldn’t be able to do the 400m hurdles. Is that what you mean?

One of India's greats has just passed of Covid yesterday.

Milkha Singh, former serving NCO. Milkha Singh, also known as The Flying Sikh, was an Indian track and field sprinter who was introduced to the sport while serving in the Indian Army. He is the only athlete to win gold at 400 metres at the Asian Games as well the Commonwealth Games. He also won gold medals in the 1958 and 1962 Asian Games.

20/11/1929 to 18/06/1921  RIP  Milkha Singh.

I'll post you an image of a sportsman that participated in a sport that almost none of you will have ever watched or care about. But you'll all know who it is. That's greatness.

You could say the same of Eddy Merckx and he competed in a far tougher sport with competitors worldwide.

Greatest Golfer is an interesting one , as  I posted earlier do you judge someone by the entirety of their career or by how good they were at their peak. I would argue that nobody has every got near to how good Tiger was around 2000. Jacks career has more majors Woods along with Sam Snead have won the most PGA tour events.

Another example would be  who was the greatest footballer between George Best and Bobby Charlton, if you measure it what they achieved throughout their careers  Bobby wipes the floor with him but in the late 1960's Best was thought by many  ( including by Pele) to the best in the world. I don't think anybody ever said that about Bobby
