No point having a clear out and then panicking into bringing players back while we try to sign better .we are hamstrung financially so if we do have players on our radar they could be  hanging on weighing  up there options  or there clubs arnt letting them go until they get replacements.....better to wait for a player you want than just getting a shirt filler coz your short on numbers.

That’s true, but given that we need 3 or 4, it’s unlikely to be the scenario for all of them. Just looking at the Windass situation for example, he wasn’t wanted by his club, he wanted to come here, there was little or no other interest from elsewhere, and a price set by the administrators which meant haggling was pointless, and we still haven’t got it over the line

We’ve gone from having Forestieri, Fletcher, Hooper, Joao, Matias, Nuhiu, Rhodes and Winnall (even Hirst) in the squad 3 years ago to this on the official site.

Playing devil’s advocate, when was the last time any of those players scored 20 goals in a season.

Apart from Forestieri and Hooper for a season or so when they looked threatening, the rest of the time distinctly average for what they cost us.

And the season starts in less than a week, less than 2 for the league. we are starting on -12 so wouldn’t it be nice to have our squad as ready as possible from the very 1st game so we don’t fall even further behind.

There will be plenty going on in the background, we just don’t get to find out ( and so we shouldn’t) until deals are done. Players also need to be available and within our budget. We cannot just go out and say we want you, you and you and expect them to sign.
It’s not ideal given our situation, but we need to be specific on our targets and not just take anyone. Random purchases are partly why we are in this situation in the first place.

wages maybe ,length of contract ,being messed about by his agent ..could many different reasons but i'd rather the club sign him on there terms rather than be held to ransom........like you say we need 3 or 4 new signings  so youd think  the budget as got to be tight which could well be a problem if other clubs are sniffing round there targets . shame we cant off load 3 or 4 of  our own to give us more cash to play with but thats very unlikely to happen.

No you’re bang on the money mate. So glad we’ve got rid of them. At least we go into this new season with a strike force that’s going to scare the poo out of the rest of the league. And we’ve got rid of the bad apples and saved millions on wages, I can’t wait for the season to start. Viva the revolution!,!

We haven’t scared the Poo out of the league the last three seasons !!

How would getting Nuhiu and Winnall back help, as OP suggests.

Neither are fixed up are they? (probably a reason for that) but how we could do with them at the moment.

Sign ‘em up (unless we have a couple of reyt signings lined up).

No ta.

Although Winnall would have been ok for league 1 next season.

Why hit the panic button?.

We have 46 games to get those -12 points back, only a 1st class idiot would expect us to finish in the top half of the Championship next season.

And guess what?, there is another season after that.

Think Toney has gone to Brentford for 5 million. Shows how mad the transfer market is at the moment.

You would think we had lost shearer, Messi and Ronaldo judging by the amount of sulking.
