WTF

So... you believe that he gets an instant report of a goal going in for Bury against Chester and doesn't know facts and figures?

But he instantly tells you about the goal, then says 'that's the first goal in 14 games for John Green, and that takes Bury up three places to take them above Colchester'

Are you suggesting that someone's feeding him that information through his earpiece or on a text update?

He does know a lot, but the obscure stats are often fed to him through earpiece or on his monitor. He's brilliant at seamlessly blending them in though.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2102818/amp/Behind-scenes-Soccer-Saturday.html

"He starts preparing the Tuesday before each show, devouring the bundle of statistics provided by Trevor Simmons, who feeds extra titbits of information throughout the show, which Stelling weaves in almost effortlessly."

Preach. Doesn't even make sense when he does it. Just at some random point in the build up. Load of testicles

It’s when they go to the ad break just before kick off.
Can’t stand it

Oh, it hasn't been going to an ad break on the games I've seen him do it on. He does it there's silence for 5 or 6 seconds then he starts a new point

Guest The Horse

You can see how dry it is without Jeff and the usual gang during the midweek games.
Julian Warren hosts it along with some others and it's dull AF.

Would like to see more of Emma Hayes, Chelsea womens manager.

Obviously very knowledgeable and gets her points accross very well .

I remember watching a programme on Sky with just her, Danny Higginbotham and a presenter ...great analysis of all the weeks games.

The thing I like about Jeff Stelling is that he understands the fans of lower league clubs love the club for what they are, knowing in most cases they are never going to win a major honour.

When other pundits discuss clubs outside the premiership in most cases it comes across as a bit patronising.

This, a die hard lower league fan. All the self inflicting humour that comes with it. He has to talk about all these prem teams fighting it out over millions of pounds with the worlds best players. 30 seconds later he has to acknowledge Hartlepool are 4-0 down to Staines Town, scored by some chap who has an office job on Monday.

He's actually paid a lot more than all the players he supports, and genuine seems to care about some of them. Switch that to some Messi superfan and all of the British self-pity charm of the show is dead.

Can't stand Le Tissier or Thompson, so pleased about this. Would be good if they could bring in someone who knows more about life outside the top flight.

I'm not a fan of those two either but to be fair to knowing more about life outside the top flight, the studio panel only really cover the PL matches so it makes sense that their knowledge base/experience is on the top flight. Whenever it is an international break they often trot out the 'reserve team' of pundits.
