Also, I don't think he'd suit how we want to play, a fitter Wickham, like during the time when we thrashed Leeds several years ago would be ideal. I think we'd be best off looking for a more dynamic, fitter and athletic type of striker on loan from the top flight or a bargain from abroad. I'd like us to go for a more all rounder type of striker, someone that can lead the line but also chase lost causes down, score different types of goals and give us legs upfront. Some of the best strikers at this level in recent years have been young strikers on loan from the top flight or bargains picked up from abroad or the lower leagues. That’s Kachunga has pace, works hard, is a menace to play against not the most prolific with his feet but good in the air, think teahh jug a will have a difficult day playing against us we can see brown, bannan ( if he pushes forward ) and city lads getting a few shots off this year as teams may sit back. If they do get reach on and get some quality fired into box this teams got options

But quality comes at a price we won't be able to afford. It’s still after lockdown and how do you know we can’t afford him ?

Jim
I think his fitness and the cost it would take to get him are big stumbling blocks to bringing him here. That said part of me thinks it was a bit of a random loan to make back in January and I do wonder if there was a bit of a desire to make this long term for both parties? A massive IF I know but if we could get him fit and firing he is a cut above this level and he does fit the profile of striker that we currently need. He had about as much desire to play as Fletcher did in the same period. Recall Fletcher jogging on and getting subbed off within 30 seconds in one of the latter games before he had made one run. And journalists it seems..... It was a daily mirror article I think. Love how some football fans think SWFC can compete with premier League salaries. It was widely quoted as being around the £40K per week mark when we were haggling over how much we could pay him for his loan spell. Unlike some of the figures that are seemingly plucked from the sky there was at least some basis for this.
