Unfortunately, at this stage, the article is very short on details.

 

What of two thirds of the season are played?

Does the table get decided at that point? Or does it revert to the halfway point when everyone has played each other once?

 

Either way, logic and fairness suggest the penalty would be reduced to mat h the games played.

Either 6 points if it is decided at halfway or the same proportion of the penalty as the proportion of games played.

 

But this is the EFL we are talking about. No way they'll allow sporting fairness get in the way of screwing us over.

It says that if at least 50% of the games are played, then the standings will be deemed as final.

I agree, it's unfair.

 

Either way, it's good to have something in place that clubs can sign up to in advance, in the hope it isn't required.

We would definitely take it to court. DC isn't likely to back down.

 

Hopefully the courts would see it as unfair treatment. They certainly would if such a rule were applied to an individual,  I'm not sure if the same applies in commercial cases.

Pretty sure this more than 50% and PPG calculation has been written into the EFL rules already this summer. That's what Championship, League One and League Two all voted on to resolve the season just gone. It wasn't a one off vote for one season, it will from now on be applied should a season in any EFL league be cut short again.

 

Our points per game calculation probably would look at our results and actual points per game, apply it to the remainder of the season and then take 12 off the total. They wont be messing about saying just over half a season so take 6.5 off etc.

Tired of all this Corona Virus nonsense.  Every year there's a new Flu, even in times past, and some people die from these Flu's.  It's not like the Plague, or Smallpox, and more people are killed in car wrecks, daily, than are killed by Corona....sorry off topic...

 

To let the standings, stand, after a shortened season because of this nonsense, just cancel the season entirely.

This is a good way of looking at it.

 

Nothing is going to be completely fair. But of the rules are decided beforehand then everyone knows what the playing field is.

 

Its always going to be arbitrary as no-one knows when the stopping point will be. But at least you know the rules going in.
