A much needed philosophy change

But if we sign loads of injury prone players then at least each week you will be able to get a team together.

New philosophy apparently, never been tried.

Another seven or eight signings and new hospital wing should see us through to promotion.

It’ll be ok. The young ones heal quicker.

Westwood is living proof.
Mid 30’s been injured since last Christmas.

I’m happy to see some younger players but age isn’t always the key. Be they younger or more experienced, whomever we sign needs to have that strength of character, resilience, belligerence and a willingness to leave everything out on the pitch. That kind of mentality will see us make progress, become hard to beat, feared even.

We simply must become a team other teams hate to play, then build from there.

Agree with that. The age isn't the issue that's key. It's the attitude that matters. It does worry me that a side of in the main young players won't be savvy enough in certain situations. In our case can we see a win out with a few mins to go. Having said that, our side of older more mature players didn't do too well at it last season any how!!!

The balance is the key & a very difficult job for Monk and his team.

Two of the signings so far are massive gambles given the amount of time both have had out due to injury.  We appear to have learnt absolutely nothing and again are signing players who have had long lay off with serious injury.  In the past 3 seasons Izzy Brown has had more time off than Judith Chalmers.

Great to see instead of signing over the hill players on big wages , we are now changing our philosophy to younger hungrier players ... im actually excited to see us next season with pace all the way through the team ... long way to go this summer but the signings so far have made me happy ... also happy for monk that he can finally implement his phikoshy on our club instead of being judged by fans on another managers players wawaw

Sure, given a month or two the curse of Hillsborough will prevail and turn them into a bunch of inept fannies.

I always hate it when playing Brentford, there teams always have that, je ner sais quoi, can never put your finger on it,

but they always seem to be able to put together pass and movement to unpick any team.

It's unnerving and that's what I would like to see from our side.

I so agree with this mate. However, results will not be instant. We as fans, need to show some patience. It will all be about the performances, not the results for the first 6-10 games. After that, results will consistently improve, in-line with the improved performances from the off. Very small margins between success and failure in this division. We will be a team, everyone fighting for each other, without factions or cliques.

If we get poor results in the first 6-10 games we could be as good as down. We really cant afford a slow start to the season.

Not all younger players are 'hungry'. some a right lazy sods

Yes I'm not sure I get this fixation with age. Obviously a team full of older players is not desirable. But a good chunk of experience in a side is usually a positive. Lots of older players are just as 'hungry' as their younger counterparts.

I like Westwood as a goalkeeper, but he does seem to like his dramas.

One would guess he has the box set of Casualty and ER in his collection.

Moving away from drama's, I bet high on his list of favorite movies is Home Alone.

Youth alone will get us into trouble we need a mix of youth and experience

My nephews used to love that film, watched it loads of times with them, I bloody hated it.

It's good to have on in the background on Christmas day.

Don't panic, we have a very experienced medical department experienced in dealing with multiple injuries at the same time.
