DC did have a strategy from the start.

Whether that was the right strategy or whether it was ill advised, there was definitley a clear strategy in the first 3 seasons. Its the consequences of that strategy failing, and some bad decisions since, which has lead us to where we are now.

What was the strategy of years 2 and 3?

its 2020

Zoom, Skype, MS Teams, Loopup, Facetime...... Plenty of platforms readily available.

Yes, of course - but no where near as effective as a face to face meeting across a table or the boardroom - but doubt Chansiri will agree to this, in any event

Let’s have a meeting in Crookes Club. That’ll learn em. We can spend all night pretending who gets one job when we get in power, and we can pretend we are picking the team and buying players and stuff.

Year 1 was obvious.... we have seen other examples of teams spending money to get out of this division, the likes of QPR, Bournemouth, Wolves etc....

Year 2 IMO was trying to build on year one. When Bournemouth got in touching distance of promotion they broke the bank when they signed Kenwynne Jones to see them over the line. Great if it works but the reality of breaking FFP etc hits hard if it doesnt. We tried the same with Jordan Rhodes and it failed. One last big gamble on a proven goalscorer to get you over the line... the finisihing touch to the team....... sticks in the throat a bit harder when he bottled taking a penalty in the shootout.

Year 3 was the fallout from the gamble failing. The wage bill had to come down, we had to look at promoting youth over big signings, recruit a manager with experience of getting teams promoted.... again, all great on paper but as we know the problems in the club run far deeper than we thought at the time.

We can argue over the players / managers who were recruited to do the job, but I dont think you can say there was not strategy.

Agree. As much as it’s hugely frustrating where we are now, and what a total mess we’re in, if we’d gone up to the premier league in 2016 (playoffs) or 2017 (playoffs) when the spending was free flowing, can anyone on here honestly say they would be having a go at DC?!

We threw the kitchen sink at it and narrowly missed. We all loved it at the time. It wasn’t intentional to fail, but we failed and now we are paying for it. I’d like to know what those who want DC out realistically expect the alternative is right now?

The problem is with many fans is once they have decided they dont like a manager, owner (or even a player) their opinion becomes so polarised that literally everything about them is bad.
