Charlton considering legal action

Can people please read up on P+S rules before making stupid comments?

It’s irrelevant who was in the league when our offence took place. We can only be charged when our losses exceed the permitted allowance. It’s the same for everyone.

Just now, Rogers said:

Clubs should look at the rules and resultant punishments as a punishment against the club, not as an advantage for them to paper over their own issues.

Because as a Sheffield Wednesday fan, you wouldn’t be outraged if we were relegated and, a club who continuously flouted the rules survived. All due to punishment being delayed until the following season.

If Derby are found guilty as well they will get the same as us. If applied to this season means they have effectively got away with it.

Derby won't be found guilty because their sale went into the correct accounting year, so they won't have broken the P&S limit.

Why are they appealing to the EFL it wasn't their decision it was the independent panel who made it and presumably advised the EFL what the appropriate deduction should be?

We got banned from Europe in the 1980’s due to the behaviour of Liverpool (and other) fans; these things happen.

Until we have FFP rules (or not) that make sense, teams will benefit and others won’t.

Nothing seems to happen to likes of Villa and Wolves for getting promoted after over spending.

Can we go back and sue Villa for getting promoted and we didn’t?

Were they promoted at our expense?

They’ve every right to appeal. The whole process is a farce, and the timing of the verdict makes it even worse for the EFL. If the panel intend their penalty to take effect next season, they should have withheld until this season was well out of sight.

Agree entirely and it really shows what a mess the EFL and the p&s rules are.

Would have been interesting had Villa got relegated - May he charges awaiting them?

Didn’t Bournemouth overspend years ago and got promoted?

it’s only an opinion but..

The logic is that we overspent (and broke the rules) to improve performance on the pitch over a period of time, where Charlton weren’t even in the same competition.

We’ve spent fizz all in the past 1-2 seasons. We didn’t break the rules this season, no advantage was gained this season.

Charlton have only played in the Championship  this season and lost more fame than they won. Sour grapes

It’s not our fault that the EFL have a system that essentially takes 3 years for punishment to be imposed. We’ve had numerous transfer embargo’s as punishment during these 3 years also.

We've also had players on huge contracts sat doing fuckall. The entire club is a joke and today our great clubs reputation has been tarnished as a result of incompetents of the highest order.

This is not the fault of the EFL and their rules, this is down to Chansiri and Paxo.

How people can winge and moan about the injustice, ffs we have clobbered together the biggest halfhearted attempt at breaking even in the history of football, it was amateurish at best and not surprisingly we have been found out.

I find charltons response embaressing they were relegated fairly now they are trying to weasel out of it!! Take it like a man!!

How are they relegated fairly, we have spent millions upon millions to gain an advantage and have been found guilty of doing so.

If the shoe was on the other foot to right we would be appealing and rightly so.
