Charlton fans not happy

Wigan went into administration and the points are docked in that season, thats the rule.

we didn’t and it’s a totally didn’t case.

Why can’t they grasp that?

Because a lot of opposition fans that are on social media (mainly our local rivals) don't care about the facts they just hate Sheffield Wednesday and want to see us sink.

They had a full season to try and accumulate enough points to stay up , they couldn’t manage it , we haven’t relegated them their players have .

I agree that sporing wise Charlton deserve to go down.

But staying the Championship would probably mean a lot more money which is what this is all about.

Will dress it up as fairness and maintaining the integrity of the competition but it's mainly about money.

Well you can't really blame them can you. We can consider ourselves very fortunate to have not been relegated this evening.

Yes I can.

The punishment is not being applied when the offence took place therefore why do they think they get to choose when it is?

If it’s not at the time why does it matter when?

Wednesday still have to overcome a deficit next season...

To think, I sympathized with these thick louts for dealing with Duchalet.

Then again, they detested Katrien and she was absolutely no issue here, so...

That Scottish geezer is gonna be all over this on talksport Monday morning. Loves to chat poo about Charlton all the time.

Funny how they think EFL and every chuff has it in for them. Also that we are part of the football proletariat and no way would touch us.

Exactly how we see the EFL and how we view the conspiracies and see ourselves as cast outside football's clique since Hillsborough.

Think every club sees themselves as hard done by and Charlton are quite right to be aggrieved when they look at the points deduction timings given to us and Wigan.

However foook Charlton.

Tbh I can understand why they're angry

BUT we committed the "crime" when they were in League One.

The club who should be angry was whoever finished 3rd from bottom in 18/19. (Rotherham?)

So deducting us the points for when Rotherham are back in the Division and Charlton aren't is actually the right thing to do 😆

Tbh for me, after the second half of last season Relegation would be looming next season anyway, the deduction has just confirmed it.

Why? If we'd been deducted 12 points last season we'd have finished 7th from bottom and Rotherham would still have gone down.

Let me tell you this EFL

Redmidland

8:19AM

I have this morning contacted the EFL, via the on-line contact form and sent the following e-mail. Please read if interested-:

Good morning, yet again.

Not only have you, as an organisation, been complicit in allowing the current situation at Charlton Athletic to drag on for nearly 8 months without ANY resolution as to the ownership of the club by East Street Investments, which in itself is a corporate failing, you have now shown no backbone or courage to properly sanction Sheffield Wednesday F.C for being found guilty of cheating. You have, once again, dodged the simple decision to relegate a team, who by cheating, were able to afford players, way beyond the means of other Championship Clubs, which gave them an unfair advantage against many of the other clubs.

Your duty is NOT to reward cheats, but in this case you have. Instead of acting decisively and strongly, you have taken the cowardly decision to delay the points deduction to next season, hence NOT punishing Sheffield Wednesday for the cheating they undertook THIS season. It has taken 8 months and 17 days to come to this decision, and in your heart of hearts you know the decision is wrong. The points deduction should have taken place now, and Sheffield Wednesday should be playing in League 1 season 20/21.

You were very quick to relegate Wigan Athletic via a points deduction imposed THIS season, you gave points deductions to BCFC last season, in the season, yet on this occasion you defer.

The EFL have lost any sense of purpose and in many peoples eyes are verging on being corrupt. The situation you have made for yourselves currently can be overturned, by simply making the CORRECT decision. Sadly, I and many 1000's of other football fans across the country, do not expect you to grow a spine and reverse your decision and relegate Sheffield Wednesday now, and we hold you in complete contempt. The quicker a government led investigation into your running of the EFL is started the better, and the quicker you, as spinless cowards, will be looking for new positions, or better still be part of the unemployment figures.

Your actions have been disgraceful.

Yours

We have been “branded” for life apparently.

Bit rich being branded cheats by a Charlton fan, a club that once went into administration to wipe out their debts and does their cheating on the pitch.

No wonder they're bitter, they're the only team in 2020 to have lost to Wednesday at Hillsborough, and they did so deep into injury time, the time which had been added on for their cheating, shithousing tactics (which has been a regular feature from that club every time we've played them for about a decade). And had they gained that undeserved 0-0 draw which was the height of their ambition, they'd have finished above Barnsley, stayed up, and wouldn't give a damn about our deduction. So tough luck.

But those things are within the rules.

What Wednesday did is not within the rules

I’m well aware of the ‘rules’  I just referred to them!

Did I refer to “rules”??

I thought we were talking about fairness & equity!

Two different arguments.

You do realise that fans of other clubs will always always always and forever and a day point to what we've just done and say similar things about our club from now on?

We've been tarnished by this big time

Other than one particular club, everybody else will get over it.

Is points deductions the first thing you think of when people mention Southampton, or Leeds, or Rotherham, or Birmingham, or Luton, or Portsmouth, or Crystal Palace, or AC Milan or Juventus, or Rangers, etc. etc. ?

I can understand their issues with it all actually, Wigan got their points deduction this season and weirdly the EFL announced this penalty before the season has concluded so if I was in their shoes I'd be asking the same.

We might stay up or not next season but it gives us a chance doesn't it ?
